Finding my AC fan louder than usual
I have noticed today that my AC fan is very loud. Even when I am driving. Is that normal. Not sure if it just stated today or its from before. I tend to keep my music volume loud. When I lowered the volume I noticed the noise. AC seems to be functioning as it should.
Its 84 degrees Fahrenheit in Toronto today. Last edited by tester2011; 08-30-2021 at 04:45 PM.. |

If in Auto mode, then it's most likely just a different 'loudness' as the fan is changing speed due to demand for cooling. |

I did another test on my way to home from work. I put the AC on "Max AC" and the noise just got louder. Taking it off Max AC mode the noise is still noticable..blower motor perhaps?

Does it sound as if it's a motor bearing, something like debris in the fan, or just pushing lots of air?

Agreed on the bearing. If it were cycling on and off, louder and quieter, it might be the blower motor controller or thermostat, but if the fan is steady speed ad making the noise, likely the motor itself. If it is in your 2018, should be covered by the warranty.

As stated, it may be something lodged. Like a leaf. My dealer said it’s probably a leaf. $175 to take it apart. Not covered under warranty.

Its pretty darn easy to take out the fan motor. $175 means its less than a one hour job for dealer, so not much longer for an amateur.
