Do you know if it is the MCU or software version which is not playing ball with Bimmercode?
I'm in discussion with Andream and they said they have a new MCU supplier that's why this problem is coming. No solution at this moment.

For now, I had this problem on 2 cars with CIC system but NBT 6 pins connection (F20 + F30)

Here is a screenshot from the phone with AA connected (there is an icon in the status bar at the top) and Bimmercode has read all the blocks.
So maybe only happening on CIC interfaces, on your car it's not the same MCU than mine btw

So you downgraded and were able to user bimmerlink/code?

Thanks for looking in to this and contacting Andream. Let us know if you manage to get a solution from them please.

I have not changed anything on mine yet, still using the versions in my previous photo. Bimmercode cant read the modules so it fails to open and cant be used at all.
Bimmerlink cant read all modules, but it still opens and could read the module for the airbag fault which it also managed to clear.

And surely the bimmercode cannot read the modules? Or is it unable to communicate with the bluetooth adapter (or WIFI)? Maybe you need to establish a stable bluetooth (WIFI) connection with adapter.

I'm not sure how the apps work, but it looks like Bimmercode tries to read all modules when you first open the app (which fails and it closes), but when you open Bimmerlink you can then choose which modules to read (some work and some cause the app to crash).

I've used the same bluetooth adapter for a few years with no issues, so i dont think its going to be that, unless bluetooth from the MMI unit if causing interfearance?

Not sure if it's just me, but for some reason my wired Android Auto keeps freezing and then crashing. Any troubleshooting ideas?

Maybe try a different cable.

You need to set the MMI unit to use car's bluetooth, and connect your actual phone to idrive system wirelessly, if you have Harmon Kardon, connect BOTH music and phone to make calls.
Hi,

I have an NBT (HK) with professional navigation.
What are the steps you took for this?
To connect to CarPlay wirelessly on the initial setup, one first needs to connect the iPhone to MMI via Bluetooth.
Do you then forget that Bluetooth connection (MMI's) and then pair with the iDrive's Bluetooth?

Connect MMI device as usual, then use MMI menu to use cars bluetooth for calls, then back out as usual, go into idrive menu, set the aux setting. then go to the cars settings, then attach your current phone to bluetooth .... use the setting that uses phone AND stream music it should work

To top that up, by doing this so called 'bluetooth hack', it will show your played songs too for those that have heads-up display and not the annoying 'aux input message'... Only downside is that it doesn't switch automatically between carplay and bluetooth audio. But, I do admit the sound quality is way better... 😁

You can also get even better sound quality by adjusting the sound quality inside your preferred music player to stream at a higher bitrate all the time, unless you are correct concerned about the data usage...But hey, that's what unlimited data is for...

Many thanks for sharing the steps.
I’ll give it a try.

Installation is easy I did the wire under the doorstrips on the right hand site of the car.

* check the different color bands by eye 1st time to be safe. Then you know for example the horizontal red stripe means 'boom' and green means 1cm distance :-) I have a front cam too on the MMI box. It switches automatic by Drive/Reverse gear.
Which one do you have for front camera? How did you mount it on the bumper?

Good to know, thanks! I tested the MMI box while having the glove compartment disassembled. Now I keep getting the airbag error.
I will see if I can find someone to clear the error for me.

Quick question: I don't think I am using the onboard F30 mic on the MMI, how would I test this? (I did reconnect the black and green wires, I do have audio)

Also, I thought the steering wheel buttons for multimedia control would be supported, am I mistaken?

I have no idea on wether I should update the device or not, below is the version information.
  • SDK version: 25.0.0.7.0.0.2.0
  • CUST version: B2_V1.5.10
  • MCU version: 21.6.7.116
  • HW version: BMW_NBT2_1_G

Also, could someone briefly explain what the andream and bimmerlink connection would be, is this the possibility to code the car using the MMI unit?

Sorry for noob questions, just starting out.

I have drilled a hole in the bumper and fastened it, to be sure a I use some epoxy glue too. I did the wire upwards and use
tie wraps to the grille.

The cam has metal housing, glass lens and is waterproof. It's a handy gadget for parking, first rear direction and then foreward drive and the front cam comes in. In the Andream menu one can choose the ON time , I did eight seconds, after that it switches to navigation and music in the wireless Android Auto. Because of the low position the camera is not very noticeable on the bumper.
Two tie wraps but the wire can also lead to the side of the car I did the quick route.

Did you have to take off the bumper?

Has anyone had good experiences with these guys, particularly for NBT ID6? Wireless Android auto and all the good stuff?

I'm having a hard time trusting the AliExpress sources. Seems people are getting old models and stuff. Doesn't hurt that these guys are inexpensive.

New UI being tested? I wonder what constitutes compatibility, ie how could this be activated for our MMIs when released?

The projection of the AA UI is mostly handled by the phone and not the HU (or mmi in our case). So I don't expect there will be an issue getting the new UI.

That UI is for the smaller screen, which the already have full screen Android auto. Will probably make it more desirable but it probably won't change too much.

We really could use a toggle for full screen maps for wide-screen, whether we get it, time will tell...Split screen should be used, only for phone calls and messages then revert back to full screen maps.
