Coding Help
Hi all. I have a 2016 328i xdrive which had a "Drivetrain malfunction" 4 days after purchasing in 2018, shut me down on the jamaicaway in Boston (worst place to be brought to a dead stop) and ultimately ended up needing a new transmission. Luckily the car was still under warranty so no charge to me for transmission + work.
Recently I'm receiving the same message of a drivetrain malfunction, telling me to drive moderately, but the car is still allowing me to drive it. Does anyone have a coder in the Boston/MA/RI area that would be willing to help? I'm thinking it may be because I recently got two new back tires and skipped on the front, so the treads are uneven (long story - frustrated with the independent dealership and wasn't willing to pay for more than what I needed, planning on getting the tires very soon). I'm just worried it might be something a bit more extensive and wanted to see if someone could help me problem solve. Thanks! |

This is not a coding issue. You need an OBD diagnostic and repair tool. Every BMW owner should have one, even if it's freeware, like bimmer-tool Lite.
