Need a little clarity N47 & B47
I feel like an idiot, and I have searched with some conflicting info. I am referring to North American cars. Is a 2014 328d RWD going to be an N47? Was 2016 the first year for the B47? Are the 2014 N47’s pretty safe from the timing chain issues it appears? Thx for the clarity!

The US version of N47 was a technical update that included updated chain/guides that are not prone to failure like earlier EU N47 engines. They are solidly built. Mine is a 2018 with N47TU, last model year 4 cylinder diesel in the US. B47s in the EU have a few technical updates, but in the grand scheme of things, do not have anything revolutionary compared to our engines. |

Happy to know my 2014 328d is a solid engine without the timing chain trama since I love in the states. Thx again! |
