I'm looking for thoughts on the neighborhood around 5th and McKean.

My GF and I found a house that is affordable and has a garage for my car hobby. House is great; walking North or East seem nice; walking south of Snyder or 7-9th on McKeen seem a little run down block-by-block. I've seen a lot of families hanging out and kids playing, but also some seedy stuff (like around 7th and Snyder).

Is there any reason to be concerned in that area, or is it just different from renting next to the Italian Market?
