Hissing sound when moving to P and N
Hello
It's a 2018 320d with the 8-speed auto. When i put it from: D into P D into N R into N or similar Theres a small hissing sound coming from the greaknob. Is this normal? If not, what could it be? Will link video: https://gofile.io/d/GDU4Z8 https://anonfiles.com/eaO4e6E4ya/IMG_4299_MP4 Thanks! |

The gear knob is nothing more than a switch since the transmission controls are all electric, so as Billfitz said, the knob cannot be making any noise.

It's an auto transmission. This means that when you switch gears, the electronic module tells the gearbox to do mechanical things and things like actuators actually move. Are you sure the sound is not just coming from the auto transmission itself doing what automatic transmissions do? Can you also hear it if you are listening under the car when switching gears? You may want to check transmission oil level & quality.
