Rattle after downpipe install

Hey guys,
Installed a dp from rm motors recently.
Got a rattle when I put it in gear (D/R).
P/N - rattling does not occur.

Where to find the issue?
Will try first to move away downpipe from mid-pipe.
Maybe the mid pipe hanger is pushed too far into the rubber hanger bracket.

Any advice guys? Also recorded a video of that rattle.

Sounds like wastegate rattle that may have gotten a bit more noticeable with the downpipe. Also check the gasket

Bought new downpipe gasket.
There was no wastegate rattle on the stock catalytic converter before.
Do You think the rattle would be louder when shifting into gear? Occurs in every Mode - Eco, comfort, sport & sport+

10/4, also see if there’s any heat shielding down there that may have gotten bent when getting the stock converter out

Good advice, need to check it.
I have a feeling that dp is hitting to something.
Maybe a slight twist will help.

1. Move away dp from midpipe a bit.
2. Check the clamp on midpipe (replaced the screw only because the clamp was welded)
3. Check heat shielding
4. Rotate dp a little bit

More ideas guys?

I agree with this guy on these sstepss. Rattle only happens when its hitting something or there's an exhaust leak or things are not tight like the clamps (loose clamps move with vibration). Make sure all clamps are tight

So:
- Moved mid pipe a Little from dp
- checked the clamp on midpipe (tight)
- checked heat shielding (nothing was touching)
If it doesnt help, the next step I will do is: rotate dp a little.

Also wondering if this v band is in good condition.
Should it be tightened to the max?

Best way to narrow down the sound is to turn the car on jack it up and get under it. You will have your answer for sure! Try that and report back!

I was under the car. The rattling is caused by midpipe clamp probably. That one which is welded... What should I do now?

What I recently noticed?
When the exhaust is warmed the rattle is less noticable.
There must be exhaust leak somewhere.
When pipes are hot, the metal with expand filling the gaps that were previously there.
I’m right?

Unfortunately I didn't have time to check it out..

Changed the dp->midpipe clamp (one BMW).
Still got that rattle…
The flexi joint is probably making that rattle.. Maybe they will replace it under warranty. Ehh..

If I grab the flexi joint the rattle stop…

sorry to dig up an old thread, did you fixed it by any chance? My 2017 BMW X1 xDrive28i has the same issue as well after a new ER catless downpipe install. I have a post with a video on the X1 forum and you can go there and take a listen. It only occurs when the car is accelerating, the shop did told me that there is an exhaust leak, and they had to use the old gasket from the OEM downpipe, that's probably the issue? Did you find what caused the rattle on your vehicle? Thanks!
