Joe released this comparison vid a couple of days ago too, which is more in depth -
Other than willy waving (and brownie points for BMW), I always think these drag races Mat does are a bit pointless. Tells us nothing about how a car actually drives. This was highlighted a week or two back when a Tesla Model X destroyed a Urus, X5M and Cayenne iirc. Admittedly I've never driven any of them (and probably never will) but I know which I'd rather own, and its not the Tesla I would happily give a kidney for a G81, but the RS6 just looks so damn good for a big estate car. Proportions are perfect but a bit big for our local B roads! |

The front lift on acceleration on the latest RS6 is comical and the C7 before it was a much more handsome car.
We are at a point where there is not much to choose from between the 3 German Giant Estates. Bit boring now, and anyway, fast 4x4's make better sense these days given the state of out roads. |

If someone was offering me one or the other of these for free... I think I'd have to go with the RS6...
I comes down to one simple fact, that to me the RS6 just sounds absolutely amazing even when driving normally. That grunty growly sound is just music to my ears. The M3 is a little too "raspy" (though not as raspy as older M3's). I know the M3 will drive better, but I'm a torque addict and the S58 isn't very torque-y low down (apparently), so that's another factor as well. But then I don't think I could afford to run either these days My ideal garage would be something big like the RS6, or M5 (I wish they did a touring), and then an M2 or some breed of Porsche for actual weekend fun.

Given that most fast 4x4s have sports suspension and stupid low profile tyres, are they really any better? |

Is it just me, or does anyone else get annoyed when car reviewers are rough with cars? Mat Watson is particularly bad for it, banging his boots off rear bumpers when climbing in the boot etc. I get that they're press cars but still, they could show a little respect to vehicles they don't own. |

- the Audi is better looking - the M3 is stupidly expensive - I reckon with a few bits and current discounts it would be over £80k, maybe £85k. That might be the going rate these days but its going to make them a much rarer sight... - the roads round me and that I use just dont encourage any car with performance as you cant use it.... So I think my days of M cars are done, and probably RS cars too. Well until they do an EV version |
