N47T 2015 X3 x28d Fuel Injector Code 24BB00 24BF00 24BD00 24C000 Help & Complaint
Hi Diesel Gurus,
2015 X3 x28d 58k miles. Car born in 2014, out of warranty. Dealership fixed bad o2 sensor where car would not recognize correct DEF fluid, they flashed the ECU. 2 weeks later error code 24BD00 - Injector #3 "zero-quantity adaptation injector cylinder 1: permitted filtered actuation duration correction too high" Dealer replaced injector #3 for $1500. 2 weeks later, new code for injector #4. 24C000, same issue. I found a 10yr/120k extended warranty on N47T diesel injectors https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...67976-9999.pdf but the document only lists Sedan and Wagon N47T models, the X3 with same engine is excluded. I filed a complaint with nhtsa.gov (Request #501063) and sent the ODI #11458608 to vsh@dot.gov for investigation. Same engine, same error codes, but X3 28d not included in the 10yr/120k warranty. Included the info here for anyone else with X3 diesel to add to the complaint. Maybe one day they will reimburse, hope it helps. Now my questions. No way I am paying dealer to replace injector #4. Any alternative to correct the ODB code for injector #4 with out replacing? Ecu flash? Diesel Additive? I erased the code, but the code for injector #4 is triggered again after a few miles. No problems with driving the X3, runs fine. If no alternative to avoid replacing injector, can anyone confirm the part # I need for replacement injector and possibly good online source to purchase from? I found this video for N47 injector replacement If I replace the injector myself, do I need to recode the injector or remove and replace should be good? Thanks for any help on this. |

Only a few of the 328d had that covered. For example, my 2014 wagon does not.
They're easily replaceable at home with some mild wrenching experience, part number 13537810702 for the X3. They used to be about $200-$250 each. At one point they were $85 a piece brand new. I use actual dealer websites: https://www.getbmwparts.com/ or https://www.onlinebmwshop.com/ or even https://www.fcpeuro.com/ ( on clearance here!! https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...or-13537810702 ) You don't even need a flat screwdriver to lift it up. They simply come out by hand vs. the video. You do need to be careful with the plastic fuel return clips. Injector will need to be registered into the ecu via diagnostics (easy to do, or it can be done remotely with a windows laptop and ENET cable. This is not a flash, but a simple registration process), and then prime the fuel system so you can start again.

Hi Enabled - thank you. I have an AutoPhix 7910 (https://www.amazon.com/AUTOPHIX-Diag.../dp/B07RTJYLQ8) claims support for injector: " 1.Injector : Code new injector numbers to replace the previous one when fitting the new injectors or after the replacement is completed; " It's been 20 years since I pulled a motor/major weekend work, so just wanted to be sure there is no BMW surprises. Thank you brother for the info, much appreciated. Will proceed and ping back soon. |

Injector Coding
Hi Enabled,
One more noob question. The Autophix ODB2 scanner does have support to code the injectors. The handheld states "Important. If the injector has to replaced, it must be ensured that the adjustment value printed on each injector is assigned to the right cylinder of the DME/DDE control unit." I think they meant to say "correct cylinder of the ..." instead of "right" Handheld scanner reports: "Currently stored matching values: Cylinder1: 8SAF7IC Cylinder2: 88IB8SB Cylinder3: BIH47E8 Cylinder4: 78827N7" My question, as obvious as it might be (don't want to get stuck with $400 worth of injector), the new injector will have 7 character string printed some where on it which I use for the coding input? Thank you |

This is an stock image from the injector I am about to purchase, sh*t ton of printed values on it. How much more difficult can BMW make this? ~24 years ago I replaced the fuel rail in MKIV Toyota Supra with 720cc injectors. All that mattered was pigtails, adequate fuel pump, grommets, wiring and fuel ecu. 24 years later, cars are over engineered to fail early. I am assuming the 7 char string "A88IFEB" (in the image example) will be the location of value/string/input I use for coding when I replace. Thanks |

Injector Coding
I was able to confirm. The injector coding (values) pulled via AutoPhix do match the larger font string printed on the injector - same location as the stock image in last post, high lighted in RED.
I'm done with BMW, it's roulette when the car is outside warranty periods. 58k mile X3, California car, no rain, only a few cold weather days in Tahoe and it's a money pit. We have a 330e with 17 mile EV range, has been great. Will go with Ford EV (Lightning or MachE) for next car. |

My dad's codes read issues with injectors 3 & 5 - - that was supposedly fixed by the dealership already but lights are back on. $200 for every read and the issue never gets fixed. If it's going to be covered / reimbursed that would be good to know! I suppose I'll call BMW Canada on his behalf, but if someone could post / message me with a screenshot of the letter or identifier that would be amazing! |
