BM3 Multimap stage 2+ question
Hello guys, I might've found something-
I'm currently running the multimap stage 2+ with a 200 cel high flow downpipe, TU pump, and the bm3 flex fuel kit. I usually keep it on the map 1 slot and let the flex kit adjust for the ethanol. But as I browsed the map settings, on map slot 1 (93), the max boost is 21. I usually keep it on this setting. But I checked the map slot 3 (e50) and the max boost is 23.9? Does this mean instead of just letting the flex fuel kit do its thing on map 1, I'd make more max power on the map 3 slot if I have at least e50 in the tank? Or would it be the same for both? I just checked the max boost level on the configure option. Thanks!! 2016 340i |

Interested in this as well.
My gut instinct is that with flexfuel detected the tune will let you go up to the max 23.9 assuming you have the boost limiter set to "OFF" |

That's what I thought, but since the max would be 21 all the way turned up on slot 1, wouldn't this limit? I don't have my car here at school can someone do some trial and error????

Max boost has nothing to do with your boost target in the map.. lol
Max boost is a manual boost limiter, if you turn it on and set it to a value etc

Boost limiter on looks at the base maps Boost Ceiling. Off uses the Flex Fuel Boost Ceiling. At least this is what I've figured out with logging.

So should I keep it on, 23.9 seems like it would be high. Thats on the multimap slot. I thought that keeping it off would mean higher boost ceiling.

Try it off and run a log to know for sure though.

On a side note,
When using multimap with FF, the target is always the max set by the map, but wgdc is reducing actual boost to match fueling capabilities. As an exemple, if you’re using stage 1 multimap, with oem hpfp and running 85% Ethanol you will see in logs at low rpm boost actual is shortly reaching target but then lower below boost target by turning down wgdc. I think this is part of the boost management algorithm on multimap to accommodate hpfp limits. I was initially nervous seeing actual boost lower than boost target, but it seems normal. Multimap boost management is very different than a normal tune. |
