Hi all,
Now that summer is here, I want to finally get to this project and wanted to resurrect this thread. Are the 'Mewant' Alcantara steering wheel wraps still the best/ most recommended by hardcore BMW enthusiasts? Last edited by derek.megyesi; 07-11-2023 at 08:45 AM.. |

I'm thinking about this as well as my M Sport steering wheel leather is starting to "shine up"... But, I'm leaning towards perforated leather and no Alcantara, but also like M color stitching or blue stitching to match M stitching in the seats.

I got the mewant steering cover twice. First time the install wasn't that great and the "alcantara" faded and smoothed out.
The second one I actually got it custom made from them. There is an option where you can spec what material, what color stichiing, you want. It costs a bit more. I ended up getting alcantara on the sides and leather on top and bottom with a red stripe on top ( which you can also customize) you can also choose the color of thread. You guys can search for it on aliexpress which i believe to be cheaper Just remember to keep your hands clean or else it will stain the alcantara/suede and clean it regularly. |

I didn't feel comfortable using the MeWant kit, so I went with a custom wheel from @Carismo_Design. It costs a bit more, but the build quality is amazing and the stitching is perfect. I am having it installed tomorrow at BMW Gallery here in Calgary. I'll post some pics when done. BTW? Do I need to use gloves now when I drive to not "mess" up the Alcantara? Flat-bottom, M stitching, smooth/perforated leather, 12 stripe...
Ebay from Europe $585 shipped. Love this thing everyday.

It's a California car, so no heating. BUT... mine was "custom" wrapped off an original core so, it's not a difficult add-on. Just ping the seller via Ebay messaging and they an get you one with a heating element built-in.
It's been a few years, but the guy I got mine from was based out of Latvia. Took about a week from ordering it on ebay to it showing up on my door with FedEx. Here's an ebay link to see what's out there... https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...ther&_osacat=0
