xDelete requires iStep update?
hello, I'm new to bimmerpost.com, not sure if this is the right place to ask questions regarding xDelete.
My local dealer said they cannot perform the update due to "Pre-existing coding" and it could be a liability for them. Is there a way for me to get xDelete without updating or paying $500+ to update at a third party repair shop? |

Yeah you can get the copy of ista/p and the full latest psdzdata and flash it yourself. Battery maintainer or 2nd car on jumper cables (not 2a trickle charger) recommended.
If you do that though it will I think lock the DME and that's no fun. I haven't done it for that reason, still on the good old 2016-11-20 version. Maybe ask xdelete what's up, see what the minimum version they support is, and maybe flash to that avoid locking DME. Not sure when that was introduced, fairly recently I think. The new version of ISTA/D (you should get that too) has a whole new thing about "suspected engine tuning" now. |
