I have gotten my wavetrac in, still only got 120 miles on it, so far, it has been amazing. Noticed nothing on decel, no noise in parking lots. Light throttle cornering has been great, subtle yet amazing. The car just feels lighter during cornering.

That's awesome. I knew you'd love it. Did you ever get to talking with diffsonline about the fluid?

They are unresponsive as usual. Will try again later, but Dan is super unavailable.

Very curious if this will help the open diff in the snow/ice. Not sure why AWD cars now don't have an LSD from factory, it makes a world of difference.
How does the Wavetrac deal with 0 friction situations, like on ice?

There’s a video on this on YT actually. Wavetrac behaves very similarly to a clutch type when one wheel on ice. So don’t expect anything like a diff locker, but still way better than open diff. Also, apply light brakes in conjunction with a gear type LSD will get you the traction you need.

Just spoke to Dan today, surprising answers from him. First he told me to not worry about Wavetrac’s warning against RedLine. Just forget it, he’s seen great results with Redline with Wavetrac. Also, he emphasizes that REM polishing does not negate break in. Since we do have brand new gears inside the ATB, those still need to be properly broken in. And now I’ll probably return the BMW fluid from FCP Euro and buy some of those Redline, saves a ton of money for me honestly. BTW, I’m loving my Wavetrac more and more each day.

I will say this, since you did not track the car during break in or any crazy autoX, you should be completely fine. Also, one of the benefits of the Redline fluid is to help with load during break in, so since you used Redline during break in, you got the added protection. I'm still on the fence of ordering Redline fluid currently, will probably contact wavetrac tomorrow to ask about the friction modifiers. My only concern as of right now is that redline fluid might be too slippery that my wavetrac's nice whip-around effect will be reduced.

Contacted wacetrac today, they have still maintained their reasoning for advising against LSD friction modifiers. They have suggested the Motul 75W90 gear oil for me to use on the street. They confirmed my suspicion that Redline friction modifier is so slippery that it does in fact decrease the effective bias ratio/lock up ratio for the wavetrac unit(does not eliminate lock up tho). I guess I'm listening to the manufacturer on this one.

Could anyone please measure the preload torque of the Wavetrac diff. That would be interesting to know at least for myself.
The instruction can be seen here in time 2:00 min |
