Ambient Air temperature sensor high bias

I just picked up my '14 328d from the dealer. It was in to replace the NOX sensors under the extended warranty. Driving the car back home, I noticed that the air temperature reading was 117F, even after driving 10 minutes on the highway. The temperature was probably around 100F. This morning, it read 79F, when the temperature was close to 72F.

Is there a way to calibrate the temperature sensor?

It turns out that the sensor (located on the driver's side just under the bumper) had been pushed back and was resting on the splash guard. So it was reading the temperature inside the engine space. Once repositioned correctly, it started providing accurate readings

Cool thanks for sharing. Mine is constantly showing a high temp lately- 122 today but actual is like 60. Bizarre. I ordered a new one since its only 57$ but not sure the original has failed or if it's not in the right position for some reason as you figured out for your situation.
