I got my 2017 manual 340i with MPPSK at 28k. Now at 65k. Car has been running perfectly up until now. Water pump was leaking coolant out of the weep hole I changed the water pump and it stopped leaking. After changing the water pump I did some spirited driving and coolant exploded out of the main reservoir and was leaking everywhere through the cap. I noticed my heater was blowing cold air aswell which makes me think the thermostat is bad. I’m going to check the thermostat this week to see if it’s bad but as of right now I cant go WOT without coolant overflowing through the cap. Has anyone experienced this issue before it would be really helpful to hear from another b58 owner thx.

First, would use a BMW code scanner and start there. Sounds like you may still have air in the system.

Does people change the connecting rod bearings at some point, as preventive maintenance (as it's needed for the n54 or s65 engines) ?

Coated bearings from factory on this platform, I’ve yet to see a B58 need bearings even when they shoot a rod or piston out the block pushing 800+hp.

Wow. Remarkable. Soon you will be in the position to mention quarter-of-a-million-miles milestone.

My 2017 440i GC has 50K miles.

No issues other than main coolant tank has been replaced (a known issue).

Just replaced these items as a preventive measure:

- Transmission fluid
- Rear differential fluid
- Spark plugs and coils
- Accessory belt and tensioner

This is a “most miles” thread, not least miles 😊 Why do you only have 50k on an almost 8 year old car? Not driving your car to keep miles off is like not having sex with your girlfriend so she’s tight for the next guy.
