Help with Coding ID4 to ID6 with CarPlay on F30

Hi all - DIYer here and I’m attempting to upgrade my NBT EVO from ID4 to ID6 and activate CarPlay, etc. I’m using Esys 3.30.0.

I completed the flash and I hit a snag after unlocking the VO. I’m at the step where I need to edit the FDL for the CAFD. For this, I’m using Esys Ultra 3.36.2, but I keep on getting an error when trying to connect to my vehicle. See attached image. It says my psdz job version is not compatible.

I’m almost there and just need help modifying the FDL.

Help would be appreciated! Thank you.

if you’re using latest psdz, then you need newer version of esys as older versions don’t work with newer psdzdata.

try another version of esys 22.06 and see if same problem.

Others can help but need to know what version of psdz you’re trying to use.

I had my 2016 with a v. 2.3 head unit running ID4 coded to ID6 with Apple Car Play. The system froze and crashed repeatedly, and the backup camera was intermittent. These older head units only have 2GB of memory and can’t handle all the data. The newer head units have 4GB of memory. To resolve the problem I had my head unit coded back to ID4. Then I bought a v.4.1 head unit from eBay (Straight Six auto parts) and had it coded by bimmer-remote.com. Everything works.

Thanks for the response. I was able to complete the ID6 upgrade with CarPlay successfully. Knock on wood, I don’t have the reboot issues. It’s been about a week so far, no issues. May explore upgrading in the future if I run into issues.

Great job! It’s strange the upgrade works for some older head units buf not others.

Curious who you used for the original 4 to 6 flash? I wonder if it's luck of the draw with our ID4 units, or if it is dependent on how the flash is carried out.
