Cctv position
Daughter has recently bought the corner house and her parking spaces are where the Volvo is parked, I would like to install a camera just to be safe with her cars but cant decide where to put it without it getting attention and been robbed. The camera will be a battery version with cloud storage like a RING or similar, any thoughts where to fix it guys?

The battery version will need to be kind of easily accessible to replace the battery , depending on usage ours need charged maybe three times a year bur we have the extra Ring battery installed.
Ours are only switched on at night as there is someone at home most days. K |

I think you'll struggle to see the parked cars without being stupidly high up because of the wall, but what about on the front of the house above the gabled front door so that at least you could see them if they backed out and drove away? If someone broke in without nicking the car then you're out of luck, but I haven't had good experience with the police and a stolen car so I doubt you'll get anything from them for a break in anyway.

I'd put 2 cameras on the corner just below the gutters one facing porch another facing garden and a parking, and of course wired, and something solid, with least maintenance possible due to inaccessible position.
If your daughter going to have garden as safe place for deliveries, this will also be very useful.

The car will be pretty much hidden from the fiend of view (by the wall) for any cameras mounted on the house. Using a video doorbell on the gate would give clearer images due to proximity, but is also easily removed / damaged / covered by a canny car thief.

Cut out a small hole in the rear fence for the camera lens to peek through. How you decide to secure it on the inside (rear garden?) is up to you.
Another option is to stick a long post in the ground (in the rear corner of the garden) and stick the camera on top of that. Somehow make it collapsible to change batteries? |

I’d attach a slim post to the house side of the fence at the front left of car where presumably there will be a fence post. Just needs a couple of feet above fence to give field of view and out of reach. If no ladder for changing battery you could either attach post so it can be easily unscrewed/bolted or you could get clever and hinge it and hold it upright with a suitable latch so it can be unlatched and folded back into garden for maintenance.

I would forget the CCTV and get her to move to a nicer area TBH.
If your priority is keeping an eye on the scroats, then you are living in the wrong place IMO. Or just get some big "this area is covered by CCTV, so don't even think about" stickers. Much more useful than CCTV, unless you want to prove Amazon didn't deliver when they said they did! |

Thanks all for the ideas, I think the RING doorbell is the simplest idea they have one on the front of the house so I will move it and test the WIFI connection hopefully it will connect.

Assuming there is a house opposite. does that house facing the space have a ring doorbell?
Or get together with the neighbour that owns the space next to your daughter's and put gates across the drive. Or a highend dashcam fitted to the Volvo with monitors the outside of the car.

WiFi can be solved with one of these. Just plug in to an Ethernet output on your router / mesh extender etc.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I wouldn’t have a camera as high as a gable end as you’ll only end up filming the top of the perps heads. In any case, neds these days all wear their hoods up so footage may be limited. You may also find that you end up filming part of a public area and then signage and, although unlikely to be enforced, GDPR will come in to play. |

All cctv did for us was let us see how long it took to break in to get the keys and the exact time the turnips drove away in the motor.
Hoodies + facemasks meant there was nothing for the plod to use. Physical barrier is the best way, a bollard would be cheaper than gates. |
