Hi guys I’m new to bmw and still new to doing stuff myself, I’ve ordered a new belt as I’m getting noises but the old belt looks strange and I can’t find any pictures that look like it. Have attached old and new pictures
Thank you in advance

The old picture doesn't appear to be an OEM belt.

not sure what that old belt is but nothing screams problems with it based on that one photo. What kinda noises are you dealing with?

Sounds like the bearing on a pulley/tensioner. Changing the belt likely won't solve that issue.

My belt would sometime chirp on launch skipping a little because of torque off the line. Doesn’t seem to do it anymore since I got mppsk, got a new one put in due to mileage.

My F34 2.0D x-drive 190HP 60K on it started doing that on start and shen engine cold for few seconds. Faulty water pump and tensioner and consequentially worn belt, the whole set changed (INA). Still same noise, changed from bosch belt to continental, still noise on start…changed crankshaft pulley (corteco). Less noise on engine start, but noise still there, now when engine warm…

It’s likely the bearings on the tensioner or idler pulleys. They both are inexpensive and very easy to replace. In fact, it’s recommended that you replace both of those pulleys when you change the serpentine belt as a matter of good maintenance practice.

Tensioner (INA-5340433100) is $52
Idler pulley (INA-5320660100) is $ $39 at FCP Euro.

You said you’re new to BMW so maybe you’re not familiar with FCP Euro. There’s a lifetime warranty on just about everything you buy from them (including brakes and even oil)! So, whatever you buy you will get a free replacement when it’s time to replace that thing forever. Just heads up.

So I’ recommend you change your tensioner and idler pulleys. Double check the SKU numbers I gave you because the ones I posted are for my car - F30 335.

Hope that helps.

EDIT: Just noticed that this is an old post from April. My bad. Disregard.

Good points, but to add FCP Euro gives a credit now instead of refunding the method of payment when you send in the old FCP Euro part. It’s still a good deal in my opinion, though!

I’ve changed all that, still noise at start up (no noise on first time morning startups)…even changed the car battery since it lost 20 percent of crank power amps
