The brake system changes in total volume as the pads wear. The amount of fluid needed to get back to "normal" will be dependent on the volume change in the system and the size of the reservoir. Your history of a recent brake replacement might be the source of the problem. I wonder if another possibility might be a stuck pot that suddenly freed up, rapidly increasing the volume of the system and causing the fluid level in thecreservoir to drop suddenly?
