n55 valve guides
Hey everyone,
I’m currently rebuilding my n55 and have noticed poor seating on the exhaust valves and seen in the picture cylinder 1 and 5 looks to have blow by. Has anyone replaced the guides before? |

Valve guides likely need to be done by an engine builder. I believe they need to be honed to size once pressed it.
Have you measured the wear in your valve guides to be sure they need to be replaced? Perhaps you could get by with just lapping in all the valves against their seat? |

This is the valve after lapping. It had about .010” of play when pulling is out 10mm and moving back and forth. The valve stem didn’t have any wear. Before disassembly compression was 180psi cold and 200psi hot
