Does any one know if this will fit 435d? I've melted two since ive had this car. It shows up in the results for the n57 inlet part number? however it's not on real oem.

Why is your inlet air temperature is so high that it's melting plastic ?
In your shoes I'd be fixing that problem rather fitting a metal IM.

Exactly. You are hurting your engine, there's no performance associated with plastic-melting IATs, and you're damaging sensors.

Thanks for the reply's I've had ports walnut blasted now, I'm just looking for a cheap inlet manifold to put on whilst i clean out the old one. This is when I came across the metal one.
Also I notice there's a new recall for the egr cooler. so hopefully the melt problems will never happen again. |

Seems like a lot of hassle to buy / remove / fit / clean / remove / fit.
Can you not just remove / clean / dry / refit over one weekend ? Or get the job done by an Indy who has an ultrasonic bath - I had my IM cleaned that way and it came out as-new. Fingers crossed the EGR cooler recall fixes your problems. BMW provides a two year warranty on its repairs so you'll have that peace of mind whatever happens.

I had the egr cooler replaced on my 435d in 2020.
you can fold down the heat shielding thing and see the part number of the cooler that bmw fitted. It was 847699301 I initially thought they'd redesigned the part and given it a new number however on further investigation it's 420d part. to be fair it's worked ok until recently when I've had to start topping up the coolant again. |

Just get the EGR functionality removed from the ECU and install the blanking plugs for good measure. Egrs are the root of all evil and the engine will last far longer without it!

Coding usually involves programming the EGR to be 100% closed 100% of the time. A thin metal blanking plate can also be introduced between the exhaust manifold and the entry to the EGR cooler to make absolutely sure the EGR circuit is closed.
