Hi all, sorry to resurrect a dead thread but thought this was the best place to ask.

Today I have used this thread to retrofit high beam assist (and cruise control) to my car. The labour itself was pretty easy (thanks to this thread), and I am having it coded in the week but wanted to get the labour done at the weekend. I assumed that I would be able to drive the car until then without any issues, just obviously without the two retrofits working.

However, it has backfired. Nothing on the stalks or steering wheel works, and the wipers are permanently on. I have checked the fuses in the front and the FEM to check if any had blown, which they haven't.

Is this likely because the new stalks haven't been coded and they will not work at all? I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that it would work as before, as I have seen people retrofit cruise control and the limiter still works as normal until it is coded to the car. Or am I looking at something more problematic, like the new stalks not working or worse a module which has been fried?

Any suggestions/insight would be really welcome!

Car model is F21 (LCI), the previous stalk was 61319351148 (stalk with rain sensor and rear wiper but no HBA) and the stalk I've retrofitted is 6139253759 (stalk with rain sensor, rear wiper and HBA). I saw on RealOEM that the stalk I've retrofitted is the right one but was superceded by 61319351153 from 2014. I assumed that despite being superceded, they do the exact same functions so would work.

I've also assumed that before coding HBA, the original features from the old stalks would still work with the newly retrofitted stalks, just the HBA obviously wouldn't. I wasn't expecting the stalk (and now the steering wheel buttons) to not work at all.

Appreciate I've made two assumptions there which may be wrong!

Quick update on this. I did a bit more research and saw that people who had similar problems (wipes permanently on, no other working buttons) found out that it was either a FEM fuse that had blown or a misconnection. Checked the fuse and it was fine so I went to check the connections, and realised one wasn't seated properly.

One connection uses a different sort of clip which has a grey arm which swings round and latches the connector into place. I noticed this was slightly broken on mine and hadn't latched properly. After managing to make it latch into place properly, I put it all back together and it is now working as before!

I'm hoping to have it coded within the week, so I will come back to say whether the part works for completeness then.

Final update just for some closure, I had this coded remotely by a company in Coventry and can say that it all works fine. Thank you to the OP for the guide, was one of the simplest retrofits I've done!

Hello I am trying to do this to my f87, I am just unsure on the wiring part will the wires mentioned in this guide already be present? All I have to do remove them and extend them to now plug directly to the 10 pin
Would appreciate if anyone has any more
Pics which may help me I am going to attempt this weekend thanks in advance guys
