MAD downpipe has VERY rough fitment to midpipe
Spreading awareness of my experience this afternoon: a buddy and I installed my MAD high flow downpipe this and man, the end did not fit into the stock midpipe. It doesn’t say anything about that on the listing (bought at x-ph.com), and it would have saved a LOT of crimping with a pair of pliers.
It does have a slightly flared exit, without which it would have fit very easily into the stock midpipe. So anybody considering this downpipe (which is otherwise awesome), get an exhaust pipe expander and save yourself hours of trouble. |

Dang. Sounds like they use the same third rate manufacturer as VRSF.
Thanks for sharing! |

An exhaust pipe expander is a required tool for this job. Sounds like you didn't start with it and had issues? I have no MAD products, so not defending the fitment.

Op,
Sorry you had some issues fitting our downpipe to the stock midpipe. Typically this is not an issue and it can be slid it without any additional tools but in some cases the midpipe outlet does need to be be expanded slightly to get it back to the original size before it was clamped down on the stock downpipe.

Cannot comment on the MAD version specifically, but I found that once you remove the band from the turbo and loosened the clamp at the midpipe, moving the DP back/forth/up/down helped to flare out the midpipe enough to make the new install easy.
I had a pipe expander, but it was a cheap amazon special, and well, that was just wasted beer money.... |
