Finally installed a 10.25" display. This is a great upgrade. Large enough to make a noticeable difference but not so large as to stand out. Fills the dash perfectly, IMO.
Mine was an Apix2 touchscreen from a 2018 X5, so it had the centered connector and lacked the aluminum tabs across the bottom. I did not want to alter the car any more than absolutely necessary or anything but the plastics on the screen. I found that I did not need to cut the dashboard much (maybe 1/8" on each side of the opening, still easily covered by the original 8.8" screen. I also did not need to grind or cut any of the plastic structure of the dash under the opening. Instead, I ground a relief into the plastic surround on the bottom of the screen. I meant to take pictures but all of the trimming, fit-testing, etc., would up making me impatient to finish and fire it up and I forgot. I ultimately used a Dremel rather than a blade on the screen case itself, because I started with a blade and wasn't able to get the cuts as smooth and clean as I wanted. Going slowly and having a compressor and vacuum handy is a must. Hat tip to @Berloss for the coding, @Chips05 for the template, @TLG for the video, @JayDaMan93 for the tips, and to everyone in the thread who has gone before me. This is a perfect example of how amazing these forums are. A great way to spend the afternoon and well worth the result. Next step seems to be an F80 cluster . . .

Looking to upgrade the screen I'm my 2014 f31 330d but having difficulty realising which one will just work. Will the part number 8715339 work. I think I am running id4. Cheers. |

IDK - it's the right "size" but notice that the actual screen is smaller.
I used BMW Part # 65-50-6-816-387 - screen goes edge-to-edge. Plugged right in and with a couple of small tweaks, fired right up.

First off I have to say thank you to all who contributed to this thread, very helpful indeed.
Also been a wile since I have been on here after selling my E90 LCI 4 years ago. So, installed an F15 10.25” Display in my F36 this week, as others have said its a fantastic upgrade and looking back at the 8.8” it looks too small now, whereas the 10.25” looks like its meant to be. Anyway, my car is NBT Evo, ID6, so Apix2 screen, I got one off eBay, part no: 6816387 Coded it in with Esys and tested before I made any cuts, only needed to change 3 parameters in my case as my 8.8” was already touch screen. Used a dermal to trim the plastic as I wanted a nice finish on the cuts, used CAD (cardboard aided design) before making cuts to the display itself. Did get a bit of dust inside the screen but was easy to dismantle and blow it out. Lastly I carefully removed the silver trim and painted gloss black to match other trim in my car. Im more than happy with the outcome, cuts turned out pretty much perfect and very minimal gap behind the display (left the two hooks on there)

Nope, not sure where I heard the term but probably someone on YouTube (most likely one of the many vehicle fabricators I end up watching) and its stuck with me

Size matters but will the 8715339 ('19 M550i) screen work? It is over $100 less than the 6816387 ('16 X5) screens. Are both APX2 and same voltage (don't know if it's 8.8V or 12V)

Anything after mid-2016 is apix2, I believe, so both the '19 M550i and '16 X5 screens would be apix2. I don't know about voltage, but think I read somewhere that apix2 requires higher voltage than apix, but between two apix2 screens, I imagine they're the same.
We're well beyond my depth here, though.

So I have figured out (so far) that my F33 LCI has now screen 6837128 and based on this page, the system is NBT EVO ID6.
If I would like to upgrade to 10,25" screen (F15), so is the screen 6816387 correct one? And what about 9347878? Latter is usually cheaper in e.g. Ebay. Thanks for your help |

I'll continue by myself...
I got the 6816387 screen and plugged it in (yet without final installation). I got the NO SIGNAL, as expected. Then started coding with Bimmercode and changed these (I have added the original values in brackets) CID_APIX_MODE = APIX2 (APIX2) CID_COM_MODE = MMI (mii...) CID_COLOR_DEPTH = 24bit (24bit) CID_ DISPLAY_RES = 1440_540 (800_600) CID_DISPLAY_SIZE = 10_25 (6.5) DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display (schmales_display) DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 10.25_1440x540 (6.5_800x600) DIMMUNGSVARIANTE = neue_dimmung (neue_dimmung) DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG 3005 > CID_TOUCH = aktiv (nicht aktiv) TOUCH_COMMAND 300B > CID_HMI_TOUCH = aktiv (nicht aktiv) but still "NO SIGNAL"... Can someone confirm, if I'm lacking some coding still, when changing from 6.5" non-touch, to 10,25 touch in NBT-Evo ID6 ? |

Possible that your video signal pins are rotated 90 degrees or 180 degrees (wrong LVDS cable). Power and negative (ground) looks OK if the "No Signal" message shows. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=493

Another mod not available for entrynav2 unfortunately... All coding options are available but "no signal" is shown... oh well, at least the 8.8" is decent enough.
