I pounded on the hood with a hammer, among other things. Sure doesn't sound like me.

Not for the faint of heart, I don't think. So someone (no note, of course) dropped something on my hood while the car was parked. 1-inch long gouge through the paint to the primer and a round quarter-sized dent surrounding it in a dead smooth part of the hood. I know I can handle the paint touch-up, but wasn't sure about the dent. I definitely can't not see it every time I'm near the car, so something had to be done.

So I've decided to learn PDR. I spent about two hours on it so far and have eliminated about 90% of the dent. I've also added a few new high spots, which I guess is to be expected, and reduced or eliminated some of those as well. So far, I have not damaged the paint any more than the . . . <deep breath>. . . who did this to my car had. I figure even if I'm 90% through removing the dent, I'm still only 1/3-1/2 through with the finishing work.

Good excuse for some new tools and to learn some new skills. I haven't hammered metal on a car in 40 years and not on a fully painted car, ever.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Here it's entirely dependent on where one lives, down to the city level. But I can't imagine there's any place where one is allowed to do that.

Nearly all auto parts stores and oil change places will take your waste oil, filters, etc. at no charge.

Active Autowerke downpipe is showing CEL (check engine light) so they sent me a replacement fo free. I'll do better at the proper breaking-in process this time, hopefully avoiding the CEL in the future.

To build a house garage in Austria, you need to ensure and demonstrate that it features a drainage under the car with a reservoir sufficiently large to retain the oil of a car if it happens to leak out.

Maybe there is a reason why tap water in most European countries is good and drinkable? 😉

Change of engine? Yes - correct for Germany. You cannot modify your car freely beyond its approved configuration.
And yet again - there may be a reason why there are so few fatal road accidents per capita in Germany despite no speed limit? 😉

There's many countries in Europe indeed but I can tell you that what I said counts for the most part in the country I live in and it isn't even Germany.

Put way too much effort into changing out a seized tie rod- the nut on the knuckle fought me the entire way off, but it’s done thankfully, now time for a proper alignment!

Nice! I am only partially through my ACC Retrofit as well (only ACC ABS pump installed). Are you going to create your own wiring harness?

With regards to this thread-

Replaced ALL rear control arms with the two FCP Euro kits over the weekend. The last time I was getting it aligned the dealership told me the eccentric bolts were completely seized and unable to be adjusted. Well, that turned out to be a f*cking lie but I'm not terribly upset about refreshing 12 year old suspension components. I still have to replace the trailing bushings as my generic press kit didn't have a small enough size for that little bushing, so I guess I'll be ordering the BMW tool for that one.
