So I went to install my VRSF charge pipe, and am getting a major boost leak. Originally I thought it was because th large side of the coupler does not fit snugly on the long part of the pipe, but even after reinstalling the OEM pipe I'm getting a pretty substantial boost leak under 3/4 throttle and higher.
List of things I can check? Throttle body o-ring is first on the list... the map sensor seems sealed well.... Really hoping I didn't break something pulling the charge pipe out 3 separate times, although there doesn't appear to be any significant air hoses or pipes in the vicinity. Help! |

Check the top of the CP as I just had one installed and was loose AF and told that the clamp was installed correctly and that's normal. Wth?
I also had the IC upgraded and installed a DP and now intermittently at stops, it's cut off completely a few times or it tries to (ie. dips around 500 rpm). Previous to my parts installed normal stop idling was around 700ish rpm. |

I'm thinking that's what it would have to be. VRSF is sending me the correct size coupler, so I will likely attempt the reinstall when that comes in. The car is driveable while not in boost (saving money on fuel I guess?) so when I take it all apart I'll probably grease the o-ring a bit more as well as clean the throttle body surface more thoroughly for a better fit.
What a pain in the ass, I installed my coilovers and exhaust in less time than I've spent on this. |

Hmm, ok thanks. Still need to figure out wtf's happening with mine then as the mechanic said essentially because I'm running pure fumes through the DP it's richer and would cause the idle issue.

Yeah I dunno, I am still running the stock DP for now, the car runs pretty well except for when in boost and then it's pretty apparent there's a bad leak in the system.

Question, is the 'black retainer clip' necessary to reuse?
I thoroughly cleaned and checked over the throttle body mounting point. Cleaned the mating surface as well as the inside of the charge pipe, then inspected and lightly oiled the o ring. It seemed to snap back on a little nicer, but it was a false sense of hope... same issue. Oh well that means I've narrowed it down to the intercooler side, and it could be either the intercooler inlet or outlet (but it sounds like it's coming from the drivers side). I've ordered new o rings from the dealer but now am asking if it is necessary to preserve the black plastic retainer clip or not? Seems to me like its only purpose is to hold the Jesus clip (for lack of a better term) in place when you pry it off. |

Alright got it fixed, was pretty stupid. I chalk it up to previous frustration and just rushing to get it done as it was taking forever.
When you get into those scenarios it's better to just sleep on it and tackle it the next day with a clear mind... Anyways it ended up the intercooler inlet pipe wasn't fully seated. Took about 0.5 seconds to recognize that was the issue and then 5 minutes of finagling to get it on correctly. Sigh... |
