I have no compression issues either, so I'm certain it's not a head gasket issue. Just starting to make me wonder what else could I possibly change, as there are only those few points of where oil could get in my coolant. I changed my oil and it's 100% just oil, and the sludgy oil mixture is 100% oil and not ATF, which rules out that ATF heat exchanger. Plus that failed on me last year prior to putting in my new transmission, and when that happened it was a pinkish/strawberry milkshake in my coolant reservoir. This time it's legit brown/chocolate milkshake.
Yeah what else is there? Maybe your oil filter housing is warped. It's all metal though. I've never heard of that

On the way to work this morning that crossed my mind for a second, but then I thought the same thing as you. I did search on it when I got to work and apparently the E46 had warped Oil Filter Housings, so I assume it's not totally out of the question.

Right, but that would have been apparent early on when you got the car. I can't imagine it warps over time. Maybe it could have developed a crack but otherwise I can't see it. Never heard of anyone else with a warped ofh either

Yeah man, it's all strange with this car. I never get the normal issues, I always get the stuff that gets stickied at the top of threads and titled "worst case scenarios"....

Did you replace your coolant reservoir? I have left over residue on every surface before and after replacing my OFHG/OCG. Replacing my reservoir and doing a fifth coolant flush to see if that explains still having oil in my coolant.
