X3M40i gen 1 b58

Hi All, I just went MHD flex fuel on my otherwise stock 2019 X3M40i. Running multimap stage 1.

Trying to figure out if I have enough fuel pump or if I should get a TU pump so I can run full pump E.

Here's a couple logs, one at E30, one at E60. Not sure what to look for other then typical stuff like timing corrections and rail pressure. I did just start logging MSV duration after PI which I understand can be an indicator of maxing out HPFP.

Have a look and let me know... thanks!

Good morning everyone. Ill try and keep this as short as possible but I doubt it will be lol.

My car is a 2018 bmw m240i zf8 ( UK )

Around a week ago I fitted the following parts

. 5 inch decat
. TU pump
. Panel filter
. One step colder ngk plugs ( 94201 I think at the stock gap )
. Both charge pipes and a forge inlet pipe to the stock air box ( panel filter inside )

I had the car put on the dyno the same day after I flashed the mhd stage 2 plus map on 98 ron. The car made 460hp with 720nm of torque ( 520ft/lb ) the dyno operator said there was some random timing being pulled but nothing more than 3 degrees and it was different cylinders each pull.

When I got the car home I wanted to do some logs myself.

The car was pulling around 3 degrees on 3 cylinders at a time.

The More i drove the car, the worse the logs got. On one random pull, I did get a clean pull which was weird but all after were awful. Iat's were always in check and never above 35c.

After a bit if driving the logs ended up looking like this :

https://datazap.me/u/danp30uk/logs/c...=50x50&sc=3-18

The timing delta for knock adapt went up to 0.3 right at the start of the run when the throttle wasn't even all the way down and as you can see it pulled timing bad. Not sure why it gets worse with iat's etc the same.

I decided I was going to add some ethanol in to the mix so bought some vp racing x85. I added 6 litres of this to a full tank of tesco 99 and low and behold I had 2 completely clean pulls with zero timing corrections ( just a bit of throttle closure I always get when she first comes on to boost as the load ram is more than the requested)

The weird thing is after the 2 pulls I started to get a bit of corrections again.

clean pull after the added ethanol :

This was a few runs after ( these aren't back to back, at least a few mins between pulls ) :

Timing gets pulled to 5 degrees and doesn't seem to want to sort itself out. So confusing as I had 2 completely clean runs then this again? Same day, same fuel, same weather, same road. Odd!

I have done many many logs since and it's always the same. The first few seem to be clean then the ones after pull timing.

The log I'm going to add now is me driving for a good while. There are many 3rd, 4th and 5th pulls on this log. Some amazing and then the next pull it could go very bad which I'm so confused at. How can it be so intermittent? At one point in this log the car does a long run going through all the gears then the run after dies bad and pull multiple cylinders up to 7.8 degrees. This is the log, I know its long and annoying but you get a good insight as to what the car is doing. One minute fine, the next awful. :

I am incredibly sorry for the long post. I have adhd and it so hard for me to get across all the info when my brain is in overdrive. I just can't understand how the car can run like a champ then run awful 1 Min later? My stft's all seem ok, the afr's are always on target etc etc and when the car performs well the logs look amazing. I'm open to any suggestions and I'll try anything.

Thanks in advance

Honestly, to me, everything here looks normal.

Recently I raced a friends mustang four times in one night. The second race I noticed I wasn't pulling away as strong.
1st, 3rd, and 4th race I smashed him.

Checked logs and for some reason the second race pulled shitloads of timing out, up to 7-8 degrees in 3rd and in 4th it was clean as a whistle. The two races after that, I had pretty much zero timing corrections in all gears.

It's the nature of the beast, you're not 100% going to have consistent 0 timing corrections all the time, every time and from what I see in your logs they seem clean to me.

If the oil/spark plugs are a bit old maybe refresh them to make sure mechanically the car is tip top. I know I'm up for plugs so I'll be changing them out soon to chase a bit more consistency.
