It is "moist" in there, but doenst look like diesel is pouring out of the DDE. I would try the least aggressive method first. Unplug the battery. Thoroughly spray the DDE connectors and harnesses with electrical contact cleaner, allow the residue to run off to a towel. Then, let the connectors dry out.

I would also focus on pins 10, 22, 57, and 58 of the large DDE connector as those go to that pesky sensor.

I have already cleaned everything with the brake cleaner, blown it out and let it dry. I turned the control unit upside down and made it a bit hot with a hair dryer, but I didn't get out sooo much. Then i cleaned and dried everything with a brake cleaner. The car ran about 30 - 45 minutes, then went out again with 50 - 60 embassy errors. I will try to clean everything again with an electric cleaner, but don't think that will help

For anyone coming into this thread I would add a check the DDE to your PM plan. In the case of a 328d it is rather easy to get to the DDE...in a 2018 X5 it takes a little bit of work but worth it. Put you eyes on them monthly if possible.

I probably need to worry about this because I have a cracked LCI unit with a tune on it.

Anyone know if there is a process to buy a new unit and crack it and copy the firmware over, to have as a spare?
