I wish BMW built the 4 series Gran Touring (Shooting brake). I'd love 4 doors without frames and the lower sitting position in 4 Series GC but I need the luggage as in Touring. Maybe someone at BMW will find this marketing gap one day.

I recently had an F20 on loan instead of my E90, and yes it was really comfy and quite sporty, it handled well, but it just felt like a BMW with a duvet around it; didn't quite know what the steering was doing and despite being sharp it's a bit light in your hands. Worse part was it was the 8 speed auto, lowered powered diesel model but was 10mpg less efficient than my E90... So it was less sporty and less efficient! Back to your jocular point, there will always be a market for a small RWD performance saloon. I hope to God BMW recognises the error of the idea of moving it's future smaller cars FWD and growing all the RWD models - it's the reason we don't buy Audis! On the plus side the residuals of older models will improve if they don't. |

Or even a 2 (3) door tourer/shooting brake I find usually other people have their own transport or if not can cope with moving seats forward to get in. Furniture, large items, pets don't have their own and are always the hardest to move. |

It's definitely a new car, you have in your design windows shorter compared with the 3 Series.
It seems that will have a firmer chassis And I'm sure will be a success in sales. |

On the other hand, it seems as though the rear door/third side window layout mimicks tha A5 Sportback and 3 GT (instead of the 6 GC), which is disappointing and takes away from the classyness of the car. |

I've only read 5 pages so far but didn't see a release date yet (in U.S.) Hopefully, it's before March as that's when my existing lease is up

Why make a 3 ser almost a size of a 6 ser and may be bigger, I don't understand the size seems to be a bit screwed with these bmws now. It sucks. This car looks like a boat and the wheel base is definitely very small looking. Even the regular 4 ser wheel base looks very small for the size of the car.

I saw a 328i GT the other day in front of me and i thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when i saw from behind. Is it an f30 or an f10. Did someone stretch that? Is it a sedan or a minivan? I was utterly confused.

An uglier, more expensive 3 series?
BMW, there is one more market you forgot to hit. Can you PLEASE make a 6x6 twin turbo hybrid with 4 doors, but a coupe profile and a sidecar? No one makes it, and you will be the only ones in that segment! |

If it's not an actual 5-door like the 3GT, then it certainly has that Sportback silhouette. There's no question that its rear end is a bit chunky, not svelte like the 6-series GC, which is too bad.

The one thing I am worried about for this car is that it won't look different enough from the 3-Series to warrant the additional model. As it is, the 4-Series Coupe has to be right next to a F30 for you to be able to spot the differences in design (other than the roofline and lack of rear doors). I think this will be even more difficult. I think they really should have used a different hood for the 4-Series models. That would have made the differences a lot easier to spot.
