Many units have options to choose between shutdown times. It would be great if we could manage to shutdown the unit after let’s say 10 minutes. With that we could go to a store for a quick shopping or refueling and navigation be still alive without the need to configure it again. I think that this an MCU matter also ! |

I took out the original screen to take a look at the connector and they were right.. I've got a 6-pin LVDS connecter with a CIC HU. BMW made several "transition" models, that's the reason why I'm having the weird 6-pin/CIC combo. FYI for other people: Mekede (AliExpress) told me they don't sell the 6-core unit with 1980*720/4GB unit because of heat issues. There are also Qualcomm versions which have a lot of software issues. Therefore I went with the traditional way by buying a 1280*480/2GB version. |

So my CAN analyzer / sender works. I can control the brightness with CAN packets. Next thing is flashing a modified firmware to make sure that it does not change brightness anymore!

Is there an updated ROM/software for the Android 8.1 PX6 head unit for F30? I got one of the first ones and it definitely has bugs that maybe have been corrected. The seller is not being helpful.

So I did it. I patched the ROM for the test unit and it works. No more dimming when the lights turn on.
The patch itself is simple once you have found what you are looking for: To the right the original code. It compares A value on the stack with the hex value FE (=254 in decimal). this is part of a bigger CAN frame for the dashboard Brightness. It's either 0 to 9. Or OFF, which is encoded with FE. When the byte equals FE, a variable in memory (I have called it night_enabled) is set to 0. Otherwise the variable is set to 1. The patch just compares the byte value with itself. Now we always jump to the part that sets night_enabled to 0. (If it isn't already 0). So night_enabled is always zero from now on. I've confirmed that it works. Last thing I will do is flash my own production unit to make sure that there aren't any checksums or CRCs in the original bootloader. But then I'll be able to start patching all MCUs that I can find. |

does your picture show your Android before or after the update ? My E series 10.25" does have pretty the same setup only difference is that my MCU is CIC with date vom 190118, so newer than your screenshot. * MCUVer "023042bGS-CIC-HW7-190118[B1280_170325] * FramworkVer: 8.1.0 OPMS5.171019.019 eng.zxw.20181228.162012 * AndroidVer: 8.1.0 * AppVer: 2019030801_1280x480_970 * Nanadflash: 19.27G/24,83G * Ram 2G * UUID: 010E6A88-3BFD-00B6-0000-000100001A88 are my thoughts correct that the MCU Update may work for my HU ? and the Android Update does also probably work for them ? maybe the only differcence are the different display connectors and different MCU files ? What i`m curious is that the MCU update you got does have CCC CIC and NBT CCC was definitly only a E series system with 100 kbit/s CAN bus. NBT is only 500 kbit/s Can. but how does the HU handle with CIC, as E series CIC have 100kbit/s but F series have 500 kbit/s can bus speed ? is there any how-to how to install the Android OS again ? I have some troubles with it (not able to get rid of the lock screen,no real bluetooth ect) and want to install the OS again to have everything back to work again. sincerely Chri Last edited by Kri; 06-10-2019 at 05:29 AM.. |

Download the update, copy the px6.zip to a clean FAT32 formatted USB stick and insert it on the usb connector from the device. Wait a moment then will pop up a window for starting the update. Last edited by Svenson; 06-11-2019 at 01:46 AM.. |
