I got a token generator that gives a free token - at least in theory, I haven't tried coding yet.

With regards to the 2015-1 map, I travelled home the other day from Birmingham to Stamford and used the nearly new Ketterting to Corby road. It was finished about a year ago and its not on the 2015-1 map. Pretty poor really.

Seems to be a common theme that the BMW maps aren't the most 'up to date', considering the official cost.....hey ho you'd be more miffed if you just shelled out £XXX from your local dealer.....roll on 2015-2.

Annoying I picked up a new car today fresh from the factory and it still had 2014-2 maps

Not sure whether to chase the dealer for an update or just do it myself and generate my own code.

I expect your dealer will tell you that 2014-2 is the most up to date version, as mine did a week or two ago. For some reason the UK seems to get these updates late.

However I followed the excellent advice given here and did it myself. I did buy the FSC code though.

There are rumours though that the FSC code might actually be in your head unit already and allow the update, by simply having the map data on a stick. Worth a try...

I updated mine today and it's not asked for a code yet.

I got the car last Thursday. I did download the software to generate my own code but I haven't needed it.

No problems, glad it worked out. I've landed myself in it now! Got all my in-laws now asking for FSC NBT/CIC codes

FWIW I tried to do my car within a week of picking up from new and I DID need an FSC code - however using Kitster's guide it only took 5 minutes.
