I ordered mine from the codecard link posted by Svache. Took about 10 days to arrive and it works fine. Costs a little more but another option.

The alternative is indeed what demge01 said =) @demge01: thanks for the compliments. I'm really just a regular guy who likes to spam a bit on the forums =)

I have been working on using an ICOM from the dealer I work at. I have tried several different laptops with Windos XP and 7. I have assigned the network the IP address of the ICOM. The laptops see the network but will not read the VO. I have finally given up. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THE ICOM FROM A BMW DEALER WILL NOT WORK!

I ended up building my own cable from the opened ended one available on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o01_s00_i00 Really easy to do. I just used a 510 ohm .25w 2% resistor and spliced a sacrificed cat5 patch cable that had a ground shield on it already; otherwise I would have just crimped a plain RJ45 connector to it. The cable worked on the first try and I made 3 separate backup copies of the CAF files just to be safe (I come from paranoid side of IT). It did take me 3 days after first loading the CAF files to get up the courage to actually change stuff on my car. My wife would kill me if I bricked it! Now that the changes are in, they are really cool and make the car so much better. Thanks again for your efforts and the efforts of the F10 guys. |

svache, thank you so much for all this amazing information!
I just coded my April 2012 build F30. I did all the mods EXCEPT those under FEM_BODY and REM as when I tried to read the coding data I received an error that it could not find the CAFD file. I checked in the psdzdata folders and I see that the required CAFD files are not in there. Does that mean I need a newer psdzdata file than v46.3? If so, where can I get the newest version? Please and thank you. Last edited by RASHID007; 06-24-2012 at 12:49 AM.. |

Quick question for the experts.
Do I need to have one copy of the SWE folder inside C:\ESysData\psdzdata and also inside C:\ESysData? Just wondering since that folder is 14 GB and it seems dumb that the program requires two copies of it within the same scheme of things. Thanks. |

It works for me using the symbolic link as I, too, did not want to have two identical copies of 14 GB. I have not tried it any other way. |

After doing some successful coding the other day I was going to do dome more today but the ENET cable connection does not seem to be working?
Local area connection 2 "doesnt have a valid IP configuration" Any ideas? Edit - working fine now after restating the lap top, switching off wifi etc. |

I was able to find one (cafd_00000794.caf.002_020_029) of the missing CAFD files (from another forum).
Now all I need is: cafd_000007A1_005_018_028 I coded everything I wanted so far. Check out the mirror folding and window up/down from key fob and from long holding the comfort access! Last edited by RASHID007; 06-24-2012 at 07:55 PM.. |

Thanks bro. It worked. It's stupid to have two copies IMO. |

edit: well disregard my answer basically.. I just checked with some other people and they too think it might be outdated datafiles. Hopefully the 3.22 version of e-sys and 46.6 datafiles will become available soon. I especially expect problems with the current version once the 2013 cars come out. Quote:

Hi Svache, just wanted to say thank you very much for this! It's so cool to modify stuff using a laptop
I have built my own cable using an existing shielded Ethernet cable (I believe they call it CAT6) and with a 511 Ohm resistor. It is working like a charm, I do not even get the yellow triangle with the Limited Connectivity message. The other day I coded the ASS and when I have time I will do the rear lights as well. Yesterday I was browsing offline, but could not figure out exactly what to set yet as I have werte=14 instead of off. There is also a separate off section If there are suckers like me that blow the cigarette lighter fuse... The fuse is under the hood at position 66. Thanks a lot man! |

i finally took the plunge and coded our x3. its pretty much like the f10 cheat sheet. i the only part that was the same as the f30 was the hucic. everything else i was able to get from the f10 cheat sheet. pretty sweet
was able to unlock the dvd in motion, trunk closing with remote, etc. might need to check the f10 forums though because i wasnt able to figure out how to make the top view mirrors stay on. |

Anyone know of a cheaper place to buy this cable (as Sean apparently is no longer making them), and the site in Serbia (or where ever it is) will run me nearly $80 Canadian (w/ shipping and conversion). $80 for a cable seems a bit steep. Any other options?
