Grease on the bolt??? How would you know the correct torque, given I've only ever seen figures for 'dry' applications? |

I never concerned myself with greased or dry torqued wheel bolts and not had any problems in that regard. If it was that critical, they would use the torque to yield method? And they wouldn't provide a breaker bar (that people jump on) in the widow maker spare wheel sets.
But if we're really getting down to the nitty gritty, how many people get their torque wrenches calibrated every year? You may think you're tightening the bolts to 110 or 140, but are you? Could be 100, 95, 150, 137 in reality....who knows. When you've worked on cars long enough, you get a feel for it and know instinctively when a bolt is under or over torqued. |

Ticked over 100k on the way back home from the Highlands…
We’ve covered 592 miles on one tank with 60 odd left door to door, there & back with a few road trips out, so good mileage from the N47 The car is absolutely grim inside and out, weather was as foul as 40 bum holes on the way back and seems to be like that for a few days yet. So it’ll have to wait before I can get to clean it inside & out! Pleased to say the new suspension is absolutely superb & really glad I’ve stuck with my guns and not going too firm!

Not sure when I should be looking into refreshing the suspension ... ACS Springs were fitted from virtually new & the dampers were fitted at 29k miles.

Gave it a thorough deep clean inside and a quick contactless wash outside (engine bay cleaned too)
The grime from the roads in The Highlands managed to get itself everywhere! That'll do it for now as it's due to lash it down again here all week...

You could just do bits at a time; arms first maybe and then look at the shocks etc... For me I think the arms have made the most difference as they've tightened up the car a lot... No play to speak of in the old suspension; but it was dated 2015! The B4S shocks with Eibach pro-kit springs have sharpened up the handling and ride overall; it's just so much better now and takes bumps/undulations much, much better

I drove a 125d many years ago and the twin turbo 4-pot was a responsive and reasonably powerful unit (for its era).

Still got back in 3.5 hours door to door! So many motors flew passed us with no lights on, in really heavy rain / terrible visibility yet were only just in front of us as we got to Lancaster and the roadworks etc… Up to Dunkeld it was lovely and quiet as it always is on Sundays, so a steady 70 on autopilot makes the journey very relaxing A few years back I managed 580 to the N57 in my F01 730D, that’s not bad going at all… Very impressed with the twin turbo N47, it’s a superb engine and very torquey/ ‘driveable’… It was great fun over to Braemar via Glenshee

Wife's folks have a Kia EV6... They came up (and back home on Friday) with no heaters, no heated seats on. Sat under a blanket, cold and uncomfortable and had to stop at Abington to charge for 45mins...
Is it really worth it?! We pootled up and only stopped at Hamilton Services for a pee stop and non-stop on the way home...! I'll stick with proper engines for now ta...

First full hand wash of 2024 today whilst the weathers fair and dry…
Full decontamination with citrus pre cleaner, BH snow foam, rinsed, hand washed, clay mitted, hand washed again, rinsed, towel dried and Chemical Guys Banana carnuba spray wax applied and buffed… That’ll do it for now as it’ll be going to my pals body shop come Spring to get the bumpers resprayed and tailgate sorted as well Still running the 397s and Goodyear all seasons as the temps are still low for the next week or so, but looking forward to getting it back on the 405Ms and Goodyear Assym 6s

The 397s as the winters are fine in satin black; they're much more open so they look well and show the brakes off well You may like the B12 kit; it was too firm for my tastes. But everyones is different

Dropped the 18" 405Ms off with my pal today to be fully refurbed; should have them back at the weekend/early next week:

Yup; playing it safe with the colour choice. I'll let them speak for themselves when I collect them (and hopefully get them fitted with the spacers/stud conversion kit)
