The E87 forum lacks a bit in the audio/navigation department, so I'm gonna post here ;-)


I'd like to replace the dying CCC with one of these units. Are they the Snapdragon 625 type? I was surprised to see an A53 mentionned as CPU.

Also, if I wish to have the new iDrive controller (with the shortcuts), what should I order? Would the "no original screen" version work with myCCC connectors or whatever?

These units are only meant as add-on to a working Radio or Navigation system, not completeley alone.
You have to repair your CCC first :/

The OEM CIC Controller will also work with CCC when it has the one of the latest software version installed.
BMW Was selling cars with CCC and CIC controller at least here at europe.

I'm asking for a advice to choose between these 2 android head units from Aliexpress:

1. The first one is more expensive, has built in Apple Carplay and better screen resolution (1920x720)

Shit, I thought they could bypass the CCC entirely.

I have one of these installed without ever having iDrive at all. In your case this would be more tricky as you have all the iDrive hardware that I do not have - I don't have the iDrive controller and use AUX as inputting audio from the android unit (Avin sells them like this too).

Probably the easiest solution is getting a new iDrive computer from a scrapped car / ebay. If you really wanted one of these Android units, you could downgrade to like the BMW professional radio headunit and then use AUX like me - you could buy the aftermarket iDrive controller and replace the OEM one .. you'd most likely create a custom holder for it.

I have a 2017 M240 on the way (somewhere between Arizona and Maryland). Has the 6.5" screen.
Running the vin does not indicate any nav, entry or otherwise.
Without taking it apart twice, how can I figure out what I have?
Strangely the AliExpress vendors have the Android listed for F23 through 2016 only.
Also there is a 4 and a 6 plug that I would like to know if possible without disassembling.

I want to install an DAB+ Adapter on my Android Unit. But I never want to install a Window Antenna. Is it possible to split the OEM Radio Antenna to save OEM Radio plus have a Bridge to the DAB+ Adapter? What do I need therefor? E61+CCC(MASK Business Nav)

If you read deeper down in the descriptions ( theres a section : Android 9.0 Parameters ) You will
see the 1920 unit is labeled still as a "PX6 Rockchip". You want the Snapdragon 625 which is the
better faster and newer unit. The PX6 is older and slowly being phased out, We rarely hear of any
update or features being added to the older units. The Snapdragon is superior in every way shy of
screen resolution which IMHO you probably wont even notice, OEM BMW is 1280x480.

There exist solutions for this, but depends on which frequencies your country is using for DAB+ (L-band or III-band). You must find out if your FM antenna can receive the DAB frequencies, if not you will have to mount a new antenna.

Your car probably has an signal amplifier mounted near the FM antenna, in that case, you need to split the signal before the amplifier (if you want to keep FM).

There is 1920 HD screen with Snapdragon too, the first one he linked. I didn't see that HD screen yet, but I find that 1280x480 resolution is ok. It may be better to opt for blue anti-glare filter which eliminates reflections.

This seller is one of the better ones, I believe the only one which sells HD screens, so they charge premium. I don't know why they provide specs only for PX6 unit, but there is HD Octacore option to choose and they clearly state:
Snapdragon 4G LTE with 1920x720 HD Black screen available now

in the end, you can ask the seller if its indeed HD snapdragon unit.

To be on topic, I was hoping there would be new updates until now. I was really thinking we are getting proper support with updates last month.

Well if this unit exists (1920 w/snapdragon ) he would be the first in this 100+ page thread that has one.. I hope its true but I am doubtful.
I have a 1280x480 Snapdragon w/blue film and its been great after a little tinkering with help from people in this thread.

Let us know whichever you get, Make sure its a Snapdragon if you want the most support... I see they are now offering Android 10, Not sure if that would bring any new features.
If not it would be better to stay on the Android 9 as with smartphones as you keep upgrading OS's the device gets slower over time.

Finally i decide to uninstall the avinusa unit and put back the orginal unit, all works fine,


So i take a picture of the bmw units, i don't know what to think, in the head unit the connection means i have a NBT, but in the CD unit is HU CIC HIGH.

I'm so lost, i hope someone can help me with that ....
