Our only way is to pay someone to do it for us, as it isnt rocket science.

On a sidenote, based on the tip muniz_ri gave earlier from the user on XDA i contacted the guy and explained the problem. He actually replied to me and said if i send him a .bin file that he will take a look.

Therefor i have done this!!! Now fingers crossed that he is able to help us!

I sent the file that i am using which is working fine for me to be honest and where i know i can code through ODB etc, my only issue is AA resolution. The ISPBOOOT.BIN i sent was version v2.0.2.7.gpe.b
Great. He's a good guy. You may also want to send him the links to the github that FireFly posted.

If he can develop a kitchen for these files we can modify them and repack them ourselves.

Sorry. On XDA a "kitchen" is the term for a program used to "cook up" custom ROM's.

Interesting, I haven't found such a device in my research. I figured this was built into the Andream itself? Can you link an example?

If before we could install bimmertech update, what is blocking us from doing it now?

Oh no they did ask for it. It was a few pages up from what I posted. Unless you show them a picture of the every angle they won't even start a conversation.

I think we have a better chance communicating with them through photos and emojis.

You would have been better off asking him to remove the device check, then we could cross flash the software again.

that assumes the device check is only on the mmi and not the software too

When I used to make HTC sense and Samsung TouchWiz roms I would put calls in the framework to detect the device model so it wouldn't be slightly midd d and shar d on other compatible phones without me knowing

Surely if the software and hardware were both doing the checking, then the MMI wouldn't accept the "invalid update" in the first place ?

Agree with @Cossie1 - I would think it would be more beneficial to understand the installation/checks process... we could then use the Andream "keys" to install other firmwares as they come out.

So why don't we crowdfund some cash and hire a developer to do this for us....

depends what the call leads to....on Android stuff we could call for the rom to not load, load with "Kang" displaying on the screen, certain features not working, etc

So I'm not sure how the mmi does it

Are we 100% sure the hardware is identical on bimmertech and andream?

If the files can be decompiled and recompile it wouldn't matter much since it's all the same source software and again we aren't sure bt is building from source rather than being sent updates from their vendor by request

If we can recompile they would need to obsfucate the update files to stop it which would cause more issues....I mean anything is possible but I wouldn't give them too much credit

It is built into the andearm it self, but If you don't have one you'll need a multimedia that support that and so on. My car didn't came with backup camera so I had a device that:

It's like our mmi unit just much older version.

Reason i'm asking is, how does the software distinguish when to display "invalid update" if flashed onto another brand if the hardware is the same?

I am assuming it's either from device ID (see one of the pictures posted a few days ago, when it displayed the device ID on the software info screen) or from the partition used (my guess is device ID).
