Is there anybody in the Leicester area who can give us an update on what the situation is around there...?

I have a fairly long trip I need to do for work next week, and I am hoping I will be able to get a bump of fuel around there or thereabouts...

Doesn't Gangzoom live around there? He might have cruised past some petrol stations

well after 2 days of calm seems to have gone mad round me this weekend. Shell, Tesco both sold out and Sainsbury in middle of town had massive queue which is now blocking the ring road...

Now I'm seeing this is all another plot by the government to get rid of the stale fuel which wasn't used over covid... honestly there needs to be IQ and personality tests every 5 years to see if you are fit to be an adult.

Not sure if my logic is wrong but surely the majority transfer of fuel from petrol stations to tanks is what is happening.

People will not be consuming more? So there will most likely be a lull in demand. Unless of course the rate of fuel consumption is increasing due to people looking for fuel

There was a major spike in demand. Supply couldnt keep up. Hence shortages. They breed worry and concern so people then want to fill up regularly just in case. Hence the continuing shortages.

But a spike in supply for a week should get it back to full tanks across the nation, and when there is no sign of shortage, people will stop filling up again....

Quick, don't mention the impending jerry can shortage as that will allow people to store excess fuel (next to the excess bog roll).

Darwin theory then kicks in, their houses burn and less tw@ts in the world.

Well I decided to head north regardless as even if fuel ran out I'd rather be stuck north than in the city. Plenty of fuel in the Inverness Tesco, although a couple of momentum pumps were off. Not unusual for that station though. 139ppl too so cheaper than my local Shell. Slightly painful returning to low 20's mpg from the low 40's of the BM though!

Straight from the internet pages of AOL.

"The increase in demand has led some petrol stations to increase prices, with a Gulf station in south Kensington, charging drivers £2.93 per litre for unleaded to dissuade people from hoarding."

If true it smells of utter BS and just another excuse to bleed the motorists dry , again.

Hope the regulars have a good memory (but they wont) and give this particular station a miss when its all over.

Same here. Went to Sainsburys at Swindon to fill up the missus car this morning and the petrol station was half empty, no queues. Got straight to a pump and out in 5 mins.

Yes, mine was down to a quarter of a tank and have just been to fill-up at my local Esso - could have driven straight to any one of a number of pumps and there was no limit on how much you could put in. It was exactly the same when I filled-up last weekend and, as is usual with that particular station, the only queue was for the adjacent drive through McDonalds!

Having said that, I took my mum across to York for her covid booster this morning and a number of the filling stations over there were closed; therefore, problems certainly do exist but they appear to be quite localised.

Yep, Fuel issues persist in south but 'over' elsewhere (according to the BBC).

Travelled up to Manchester this weekend, and topped up on the M6 Toll services as that was the first services that had fuel available and no queues. Got to Manchester and no sign of panic whatsoever, every petrol station was open, no queues and only the Asda station seemed to have a limit.

Is it just the people here in London that are going crazy?
