Just remember another thing: the steering wheel column doesn't extend far enough, I have short arms so my right knee bends a bit too much, operating the brake paddle in the city can be exhausting sometimes.

First BMW for me, F30 2016, but here is my list after 2 months:
Double-pull door unlock No unlock on the inside of the drivers door (I get out and realize I need something in the back seat, I need to lean into the center of the dash unlock button or dig out my fob) Cup holder is so tight and no space for my big mug Stereo stays on after I shut the car off and stays on until I lock it Windshield chips, tiny shards everywhere (previous owner must have tailgated A LOT lol) But love this car, especially after BM3 stage 1, much fun for sure! |

Windshield definitely can't disagree with that, I've never had such a soft windshield. By 2018 they've fixed the unlock to the drivers armrest. |

Other thing I don't like is that cruise control stays on if I shift gears...it went off in both e36 and 46s with any gear change, which made sense.

Strange thing is I saw people on this forum bragging about 27,28mpg with the B58 engine in city, 30+ on highway, don't understand how they could achieve those numbers. Tried Eco Pro, didn't really help in city driving. |

That's right - I have seen some miraculous numbers for B58 which I can only consider false/fake based on my own experience.
And yes - my impression is aligned with yours - Eco Pro does not help much in the city. It does however help on the long journey if economy is what you are after and/or just want/need to be cruising without any rush. I have tried it and according to the dash managed to save fuel for over 100km on a long journey My average consumption in the city is something like 12L /100km, but I drive short distances. In comparison, my 4 cyl., FWD Audi drives the same routes with an average of about 9L /100km. On a long journey the difference in consumption between the two (when driving "normally") is reduced to about 1-1,5 L in favor of the Audi again of course. But what the B58 gives terms of experience, capability and performance is worth every liter Don't care how much it burns (as long as it is healthy)

I did. The reported fuel economy is a complete lie. I get no where near the city driving mpg even when driving like a gradma. They must do the city and hwy mileage tests on a downhill road with a back wind never touching the accelerator.

City mpg is anyway very hypothetical. No city is like another! Can you compare a city with 10 000 population and a single traffic light to London or Tokyo?
Forget city MPG. Look at the other. You can achieve that under optimal circumstances. People do. So no lie

Thanks I'll try that. I have been hitting the stereo off button after stopping the engine.

Dealers do it or some nice community members here have the software ready on their computers. If you can find someone on the forum that would be great. |

I-step or I-level AFAIK. Version info does not matter because the latest version(s) should have this fixed anyway. You cannot request a specific version number from the dealer. Mine was updated a few months ago because of a faulty module (dealer updates the system as a whole) and it was noticeably better. Even the steering felt different after that. That being said if there is mechanical issue I doubt that it will fix it. Go into your idrive navigation settings and find software version (not map version). |
