RGS/Wellingborough isn't far from me so I may drop them a line. Would be interesting to compare at least on the same RR.
If anyone wants their stock 330d dyno'd at the same time, let me know!
Thanks, Stuart

Hi Stuart,
during the complaint proceedings BMW officially told me: you make measurement with the standard ECU and then the ECU PPK. We want to see the difference, power increase. Then you make a listing of memory failure. Must be clean. They nor did not say which gear I have to measure. That's what I did and I am now waiting for a decision on whether my blemish will be recognized under warranty.

BMW can not give in addition many PH (but there are tolerance + -), each PH in addition increases the risk of failure, which must be covered under warranty. Why would BMW it made?

Regards Mirek

Good reminder popped in to my local dealer in Bournemouth explained to the service receptionist what a PPK pack was, he has worked with BMW's for 12 years and had never heard of it

Anyway he quotes me £150 to carry out a diagnoses check I explain it should have been done at the same time as the installation of the PPK, to be fair to him he asks me did I buy the car from them & I explain no it came from Southampton, so he suggests I take it back to them to sort out which is fair enough.

I will contact the dealer in the morning and arrange a suitable time for the car to be upgraded, or I may part ex it for a new M235i

Hi. BMW confirmed to me in writing that it is warranty work, but the update is not yet available to UK dealers. When it does become available it can be done at any dealership at no cost.

"I have just spoken to our Regional Technical Manager and although he cannot give me an exact date, he expects the software to be released towards the end of March/beginning of April.

He also believes that it must be a software fault, therefore will be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. This will mean that you should be able to get the repair carried out at your local dealer.

I would though recommend that you supply them with the complete email trail so they can understand fully the fault with your car and the recommended fix by BMW customer services.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly."

Car is booked in on the 24/25 of this month for them to play with, service receptionist had no idea about it, PPK is obviously a very rare option on the 330d.
Will report back when gauges are re set, will also post pictures

Yes I wouldn't mind knowing what they did, as my car goes in for its PPK fix in a couple of weeks.

Ok it's running version MN_002.038.015 car is Sept 2013, it's a 2014 model year car, the Efficient Dynamics graphics seem to have been upgraded and show a lot more detail of what's going on with the cars various functions.

Whilst it was in they also carried out the drain grommet fix, so the water can drain away ect

Well, just switched my dials over to BHP etc. and looks like my software is up to date, and no need for update when the car goes in later.

Under settings and measurements/units, I think it's the power option.

Video at 34 secs shows the PPK hitting 60, while the standard is hitting 50.
well if you freeze at the first point of acceleration you ll see the ppk version has already started - its already doing about 15 kph.

Just a quick update.... I moseyed on down to Santa Pod yesterday to see what the Black top dyno said. I know there have been a number of sceptics regarding the power figures I posted....hopefully this will put an end to it.

Best time of the day: ET 13.74 @ 101.72 MPH

If you plug the speed in any of the online drag power calculators (stock 330d weight with 95kg [me] driver) they will return a figure above 300hp. Proof enough.

These times are by no means all the car is capable of, we were faced with a steady 17MPH (33MPH gusting) headwind. Yep Santa Pod is an airfield, and aimed exactly at the prevailing wind direction. All the regulars I spoke to said there times (and speed) were down due to the wind. See video.

Modifications....NONE, just a standard PPK 330d running standard Shell Diesel.

The other issue was traction. My best 60ft was a dismal 2.11 seconds, this was achieved by quick shifting into 2nd then 3rd before I even got to the 60ft traps. This was the only way I could cut the rampant wheelspin.....it was slippery at the Pod. To put this into perspective, I ran my BMW Laptimer app, and it showed 0-100km/h (62mph) of 6.2 seconds. My car scores a 5.4 on the app on normal tarmac (I don't think it is very accurate though, as timed my car does 60 in around 5.0-5.1 seconds on a very clean get away). Might be wishful thinking if I could take 0.6 seconds off the ET by running on normal tarmac? Who knows.....or who even cares.
I see a few guys in the US have posted 1.7x 60 foot times with 335i's, that is bloody good. I think the problem with a 3 litre Diesel is....you just can't modulate the wheelspin, even giving half throttle in 1st gear seems to give the same tyre shredding torque as full throttle, any less and it bogs down

Anyhoooo, I had a good day trying different launch techniques, Sport / Sport+, always brake torquing the launch (Mine is Pre Launch Control). The best time was my last when I decided, Sod it, DSC OFF driver in control....and it worked.

Summary: My PPK 330d is kicking out at least 300hp at the fly, and I am really happy to have gone the PPK route.

Would splitting the power a bit between front and rear help?

You never know they are very clever those BMW engineers...

Sure, if they offered such a system that didn't screw up a greater number of other characteristics, I'd be sold
