PS: looks like you did the European delivery for real since you do not only have the temporary export license plate but also the green sticker on the windshield required to drive in German city centers

Was not 100% sure Saddle Brown interior would be OK with EBII, but happy with the result

Tail lights coded as DRLs

Impossible to take a proper pic of the angel eyes or xenon on a dark background with my cheap camera or iPhone... so be it

De-badging or not ?

Every once in a while, I think the car would look better de-badged... then I change my mind and re-badge

Probably one of the most futile part of modding a car.

This being said, I tried something different this time and went for a gloss black badge. After all, there was nothing (silver) chromed left of the car at this point... except the wheels

Does this mean I should think about new rims ?

Spacers and Wheels

I took advantage of being in the US for a few days to pick up a set of 10mm and 15mm spacers to finally get my wheels flush.
I have used H&R, ECS tuning and a few other brands of spacers in the past but went for Turner Motorsports this time. I liked the fact that they are really lightweight, that the fit and finish looks excellent and that they come with a notch on the side that makes them very easy to remove:

Once installed on the car, the front and rear wheels were finally perfectly flush

I was perfectly happy at this point

Comes this week and the time to drop by at the dealership to get winter tires mounted. The car is a company lease and winter tires are part of the standard package. The leasing company sent me a message saying that they had ordered tires and that I should just make an appointment with my dealership. I swung by today, killed a few emails sipping an espresso while the car was in the shop... and collapsed on the floor when it was ready.

The lease contract -which I never looked at, my bad- did not come with winter tires but a winter 'kit' including tires and rims. I had heard in the past that it was not a good option to swap run flats multiple times (true or not?), so this may have been logical. Anyway, my 403M 19" rims got replaced by 415 18" wrapped in 225 Pirelli Sottozeros for the winter

I do not want to sound like a spoiled kid and this is only a first world problem, but I would have expected to be informed/consulted regarding the choice of the rims. I did not have time to waste so I signed the paperwork and got on my way. Now I can not wait for the Spring, but maybe the 415 rims will grow on me. They are not ugly, they just look a bit heavy and are only 18". But again, this is nothing but a first world problem...

Or maybe this will divert my attention from the F36 for a while and get me to plan more seriously for a future week end car

Ugly wheels update

No change so far, my winter rims still look as ugly as before, especially now that I have added a bit of curb rash.

The Pirelli Sottozeros are however a (very) good surprise: while being run flats too, the ride is smoother and the steering feels more accurate than with the Potenzas S001. Comes March, there is no way I am going back to the sh*tty Bridgestones and they will be replaced by a set of Michelin PSSs and a tire repair kit. Does anyone at BMW realize how much the Potenza RFTs are detrimental to the (sheer) driving pleasure

Yes, I tried when I placed my order, but it was a no-go with the 19" wheels.

Thanks, you are my hero. I feel much better at once! It is not the 'turbine' shape that I actually have an issue with but the fact that they look a bit massive and heavy... and are hiding the nice blue MSport brake calipers

Thanks! It could be the spacers and/or the angle of view but it is a square setup with 225s all around. Can't wait to get my 19" back... and run to the tire shop to get Michelin PSSs
