It must be the same engine with the 218i 1.5cc 136hp.
I hope in the future they can get more power from this engine.
If am not wrong the new mini cooper use also the same engine : F56

I would like to believe that a key part of the reason people are striving for those 318i low power versions is the idea of rwd handling excellence and agility and engines that are more powerful than average for their size.

I hope this is always going to be part of the 3er identity and that the sport suspension is once again very sporty and that the LCI cars accelerate faster than what the published power output suggests.
I's also the lack of torque steer, serenity in motoring and overall premium quality feel of the car.

And manufacturers have to achieve a average low emission number, by making smaller engined cars, they enable themselves to build high power cars as well. Otherwise they'd only be building the average 200-250 hp cars and cars like the M5 are no longer possible. The enthusiast actually NEEDS these low power cars in the range of the manufacturer, although very few really understand this. Let BMW build cars like the 2AT, they will sell big time (they are selling like hot cakes over here already) and let them build quite genious 1,5 litre 3 cylinder on boost (it actually runs quite nice) to allow BMW to build the really fun cars.

Wow,its a good news if its true.
We will see if they will use it also on 2series cabriolet.
I want to change my 320d with 218i but the 136hp will not be enough for me after 184hp,so if they put 192ps version it will be imba

The USA currently does not get full Adaptive LED with anti dazzle (as in video below)
Only LED with cornering
Some have activated anti dazzle via coding in the US.

Me too! Love the sound, the efficiency and low weight of the three Cylinder. Would be great in the 1 and 3- series. After Tesla came, it's no sense spending tons of money on powerful engines anymore. It's impossible to compete with them in terms of acceleration anyway .

But the fun-factor of driving a lightweight BMW on a track or curvy road, there the Bmw will still be number one.

Hey guys,

I'm new here and even in the "BMW-World", but I'm planning to order a 428i GC soon.

Following on from the release of the details of the 3-Series LCI update, it will be interesting how long it takes before the two new petrol engines filter down/across to the 4 series...

Is there any information about it?
Is it likely, that they'll change the 28i engine to the slightly more powerful 30i engine in the near future, or it's supposed to happen only when the 4 series will get it's LCI update?

Thanks

The i8 uses the same powerplant but produces 251bhp, albeit with a bigger turbocharger.
Im sure there is more power to be extracted from that engine. The biggest plus side of the 3 cylinder in my mind is the noise, its so much better than a 4 cylinder!

Not thrilled...

I can't fail but to notice that compared to the E90 LCI, cosmetic changes are negligible in F30 LCI. E90 LCI made that car truly more attractive. So, either people are happy with the design of f30, or BMW decided they dont want to spend too much money on LCI this time around.

IMO the first generation E90 looked bulbous and too feminine. The LCI changes, especially the hood and taillights made it much more svelte. However the F30 is a far sleeker design and other than the hood who's shape is dictated by safety standards, works very well. The non-MSport front fascia could be better and is sleeker on the LCI but otherwise the original design is great.

BMW seems to be addressing the real issues which are interior materials, steering and driving dynamics.

In Europe, both 430i and 440i begin production in March 2016.

Haven't seen this before. This is pretty darn impressive. Would love that stuff on my next BMW, but the Danish 180% car tax puts a bit of halt on equipment over here.
