I swear I saw something related to a firmware update in December 2012 but perhaps that was the non F30 N55 version of stage 2.

And yes, stage 1's did have the USB connection, but currently do not (I can confirm that on the one I have on my car and a conversation I had with Terry). But Stage 1 F30 N55 directions say not to plug in the solenoid connection. Apparently some early version of the DME can use it with no issues, but they're telling people not to plug it in for stage 1. Stage 2 is a different story.

So my bad, one of my firmware update date on stage 2 was wrong. Nothing has changed with stage 1 in quite a while other than them removing the ability to connect to USB to your laptop.
Yes the December firmware upgrade for the F30 Stage 1's with USB is talked about in the link I sent. You can contact the members directly or Terry to confirm. I stay actively involved in the F30 development and was waiting for stage 2. Which makes the F30 a monster.

Bananachipz there is a noticeable increase in power, specially torque bc i feel my car is lifting alot more than before!

Now can someone tell me, is there a difference between stage1 vs stage2 Map 1? I dont think i would use map 2 since i dont have a downpipe (nor will i install one on a leased car) and dont have access to E85 here in Toronto
There is a small amount of increase from stage 1 to 2, but nothing drastic and perhaps improved turbo response. The real benefit of Stage 2 is if you have DP and/or E85 and can use Map 2.

You can look at the dynos. Personally, I didn't see a need to get stage 2 until (if) I got a catless DP.

As for as connecting the solenoid connection with stage 1, the instructions say not to as has Terry. You can contact to see if their stance has changed just to be certain. I was instructed not to connect it.

If you "left" a ZL1 Camaro either the driver sucked or wasn't racing.

No we raced twice and he asked what I had and we talked for a bit and went our separate ways. He was an automatic by the way and we went from a Dig and a 20 mph roll. Each time I was over a car. Trust me I know my way around a drag race when someone is trying or not.

After a few days with the stage 1, i must say Faaaak I Love this tune. Car feels pretty good.

It hard to explain but Now I notice that in sport / sport ± and WOT or just a generally heavy foot, gear shifts are harsher in a very good way. In The 200ms it takes the zf8 to shift,, i feel the torque drop momentarily then back on full in next gear. This all happens in a heartbeat and Just makes for a great driving experience.

Hi guys,
Have any of you had any increase in exhaust smoke after install? Just curious. After my install on 328i I had started the car and waited 5min to ensure nothing was wrong. I saw smoke in my rear view mirror and it persisted at idol.

It's possible the ZL1 driver sucked or wasn't racing, but if you look at the torque numbers it entirely possible to out launch a ZL1.

ZL1(stock)
Weight: 4120lbs
HP 580hp
TQ 556ftlbs

F30 (JBStg2+E85)
Weight 3594lbs
HP 423hp (360whp)
TQ 518ftlbs (440wtq)

The 335i has 38 less peak TQ than the ZL1 but has 526lbs of weight advantage.

ZL1 has launch control, 335i doesn't and the 335i only spins one skinnyish wheel; good luck putting all that power to the ground. Equal drivers it's not happening.

I just realized the numbers you quoted are roughly the dyno numbers of the jb2 + e85 car dynoed in the thread about jb2 dyno results.....except that car had a downpipe and the gentleman claiming to have "left" a zl1 doesn't have one.

Realistically he is probably down 170hp and 70tq to the ZL1 he "left"

Its their ass, and considering I've owned tuned/modded 335i cars and driven many other cars just as fast as the zl1 including an actual zl1 I can say with certainty equal drivers with both people racing a stage 2 e85 335i isn't going to "leave" a zl1.

Right, I deducted 10whp and 10wtq for the down pipe before I used those numbers..should it be 20wtq? Even so it's not going to make a huge difference to the weight to torque ratio.

You were there and that's wonderful, but you being there doesn't disprove whether the driver sucked or not.

I've beaten plenty of faster cars in my day due to bad drivers.

Now just got to convince the finace

I still love my car but I get bored fast

Hello everyone,

Excuse my English but I'm Belgian and do not understand English well, so I use the google translation.

I would put on my bmw 335i f30 the JB4 stage 1 and stage 2 then JB4.

issue ==> to stage 2 it must be the first stage 1

==> can you tell me where I can buy the JB4 stage 1 and what model to choose bmw 335i f30 2012

==> Which hoped to gain the stage 1 and stage 2 and more

==> Is that mounting the stage 1 is easy

==> How to avoid customs charges here in Belgium because of the customs fees can control the usa are expensive

thank you to everyone and sorry for the translation

Stage 1 is very easy. You can just buy Stage 2 or you can buy stage 1 then upgrade to stage 2. Stage 2 isn't a huge upgrade over Stage 1 unless you are doing other mods such as a down pipe.

The below thread should tell you a lot about upgrading to Stage 2.
http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18588
