if you want a visual representation of what and how it needs to be done, this video is pretty good:

Go slow! Last thing you want to do is drill through the seemingly thin cardboard.

Hey there!

I have an F30 from 2013.
Is it possible to change the inner part of the door handle without taking down the whole door?
With something like a long screw ?

Thanks

Nope, the door card must be removed, which honestly isn't bad. It needs to be removed as the plastic rivets need to be drilled out but also the new screws are mounted from the inside.

I did my sons 535 and my 435 this year. I think the scariest part is popping the door card. It feels like something is braking while you attempt to separate the inner panel from the door. as obijon said go slow, watch some videos! Don't over drill the melted tab that's holding the original handle in place. It's a compressed fiber board, not exceptionally durable. I purchased my new handles from amazon. I ordered a few, returned what I didn't use, can't say it's a perfect color match (beige) but honestly, I am the only one that can tell.

A very good alternative is to just cover them up. https://www.amazon.de/-/en/dp/B09KND...v_ov_lig_dp_it

Hi all, made this swap myself recently in the UK. I’ve got an F3/, did both door handles. Bought the repalcement handles from ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/395105163...mis&media=COPY

And followed this video to install

It was tough at first taking a drill to my door card, but once the anxiety is out of the way, it’s actually pretty easy. Takes half hour to fix, and well worth it for a few quid!

All the DIY videos I’ve seen drill out plastic rivets and replace with screws. Does anyone know how to replace with genuine parts?

The BMW replacement comes with screws. But at three times the price of third party options why buy them?

Because I have severe brain damage and only buy genuine or OE parts

I have the Oyster (beige) interior. I purchased three different aftermarket options. None were an exact color match. Probably all made in the same place but who knows. So, OE maybe the only option for me to get an exact match. My son's black interior was a fairly good match and have held up perfectly. Purchased on Amazon.

FYI, the BMW parts do not come with any additional screws to replace the plastic welds. They are not essential for putting the door card back together as the 2 primary screws still affix the interior handle to the body of the door.

I thought they did, as do those in the video. The reason for the OEM being attached to the card with plastic rivets is for ease of assembly at the factory, allowing them to install the card and handle as a single unit, also as seen in the video.
