Ok, so I think mine are as bright as they will get now. I basically just fussed with the settings, turned the dial on the dash all the way down, then turned the settings in iDrive all the way down then back up to max [clicking each time to save the changes]. Then I turned the dial on the dash up again to max, and it's the brightest I remember seeing at this point.
Still pales in comparison to a lighter interior color, but I know they're pumping out a good amount of light now based on sticking my arm by the door and it lights up pretty well [yay not having a tan]. My loaner:

The bright interior shows the lighting in a different way, shame black doesn't do that I'll take a photo of mine later on, but similar to yours ;(

I didnt even realize my car had lights in the door panel because they are so dim! I had to look under the trim to see the strip of lights!

the lights are super dim and suck if you have black leather. i have mine cranked up to 100% and can barely see them when they are on white.

Damn, I thought they might be more visible with red! Love a bright interior but keeping the leather clean and immaculate, is very hard!

The first pic is 100% intensity. The second is the intensity I normally run at. Both are exaggerated because they are time exposures. (I just took them w/o the flash.) |

Didn't even know I had ambient lights in the door until I read another post complaining about them..LOL...So yes I would say they are dim.

I wish there were lighting in a few other places as well like the Mercedes has. Perhaps in the next update. |

Sorry to revive this thread but its bugging me so read up some more and found a code I could adjust to separate the ambient and instrument cluster light adjustments. I made the change just now so I just need to wait for it to get dark to see if it makes any difference. I will report back.

Please let me know! With my tinkering [excessively turning things up and down very quickly] I've got it pretty damned bright. I had a 320 loaner with black interior, but even it was still way brighter than mine. I think perhaps it was the sensatec material maybe being more reflective of the light vs. the real leather. (?)

OK maybe I am imagining things but when I made the coding change, the lights seem brighter to me. Whereas before I barely noticed them (in fact I didnt even know I had them before reading this thread), I can now clearly see the added brightness projecting downward towards the door handles. I can also see the LED lights reflection against the door handle surface, something I never noticed before. Switching to normal color (orange) made an even more noticeable difference against my coral red interior.
Here is the code that needs to be changed: FEM_BODY / 3070 / AMBIENTE_NACHFUEHRUNG from aktiv to nicht_aktiv |

Is that just turning it on and off essentially? The white is definitely less visible than orange for me.

Hi All
Just Picked up my 435i today and was wondering about the interior lights as my E93 had them and loved it.. In the E93 option list I had the extended light package but is not on the option list for my F32 is it an added extra as there does not seem to be any light coming form the LED strip in the door at night. Although I have the setting in my idrive. Thanks |

As of the lights in the door, you need to turn up not only the brightness in idrive but also the dashboard lights too. The brightness is tied together. I recently coded my car to make these independent of each other. When I did this the ambient lights in the doors seemed to get brighter.
