Hello guys, I own a European BMW F20 (116i, N13 engine).
I've installed the M-Sport big brake kit (front and rear). Not the M-Performance. Although from the dealer told me they have coded the car (there's only 1 coding procedure for both M-Sport and M-Performance), I feel the initial bite really bad compared to stock. What parameters should I check in ESYS if they had the coding properly?

So I must have these lines enabled because of the dealer told me they had made the coding. I will give it a try and post back.

Installing 6 Cylinder Brembo GT BBK rotors and brakes. 1) What EXACTLY does the M-Performance Brake coding do? 2) Should I code for MPerformance Brakes with the superior Brembo GT? Any clarification you can give would be greatly appreciated. |

Why would size of rotor matter in the coding?

I never looked into that deep. I think answer is going to be rather technical related to DSC Parameters and the width of the rotor.

Best guess an European Performance shop gave me, which makes the best guess / sense at this point is it might deal with how the ABS System works. That's only a guess, but better than anything else I have heard - or that anyone has come up with for that matter. |

In the Vehicle Profile the intalled Sport Brake is listed [8] Aftermarket_Fitment [1957] SPBR_18_ZOLL_SPORTBREMSE In the DSC CAFD file. C_Variante_Bremsscheibe_vorne_e was still set to 30/340 C_Variante_Bremsscheibe_hinten_e was still set to 20/330 I FDL coded these values to 30/370 and 24/345 (installed rotors). I must admit no noticeable change in brake behaviour. Placebo effect yes, but not like day/night. In a blind comparison I doubt anyone would feel a difference. Anyhow, I often read the people installing the 18" brake kit should code above values, but I never saw that coding of C_Variante_Bremssattel_vorne_e C_Variante_Bremssattel_hinten_e also should be changed to the "right" values. (They where set to the right values in my car 4-piston front/2-piston rear, although the rotor values where not) Could it be, that changing these values has a much bigger impact, as it tells the DSC Module what calipers are installed? DSC Module will possibly adapt the brake pressure and balance also based on these values?

I don't know exactly, but I do know, as I wrote above, any official dealer install will be VO Coding only, and no additional FDL Coding.

It made a very nice difference in pedal feel. Mush was eliminated and it is super nice now throughout the travel range of the pedal. I also noticed under DSC it remained the factory setting of 340mm/330mm and coded to appropriate bigger disc sizes and FWIW I didn't notice any difference. All this thanks to shawnsheridan super helpful and provided awesome step by step directions.

C_Variante_Bremsscheibe_vorne_e C_Variante_Bremsattel_vorne_e C_Variante_Bremsscheibe_hinten_e C_Variante_Bremsattel_hinten_e to the lowest possible like a 316i brake setup. Took a drive around the block and didn't notice any difference. (Then recoded the FDL to the right M Performance values.) Didn't have much time to spend, just my quick impression. I assume probably VO coding changes a bunch of values. I also don't know, what exactly will change. (Initial brake pressure, emergency brake pressure, behaving of ABS/DSC, front rear brake balance....) I would be interested to know.
