He's selling soon though I'm not too interested in 100k though, I know they can do that easily, I'm more interested to hear from the super high mileage guys. 175k and up. Not sure if they exist though, or at least not on here...

But yeah, she's been modded since about 60k and running stage 2 since November of last year, so maybe 20-25k miles on that? I change my oil every 5k and do inspections every 1k to check for anything that's starting to go. Much easier to do that, buy the part, and replace it myself if I can, then to pay for it later. I'm still under CPO but I always like to assume that I won't get it unless it's a common break.

When a motor suffers catastrophic failure, it is difficult to find which part failed first. But here is my latest (for what it is worth) theory on the N20 Timing Chain (TC) failure:
- The quality of the guide material (plastic) is is sup-par. - Over time, small bits of plastic come off the guide and end up in the oil pump (sump) filter. - Eventually the pump is starved for oil so oil pressure falls and error message is displayed. - In short order, with low oil pressure, the TC trensioner (being powered by oil pressure) allows chain to slack. - The slack chain either allows it to skip a tooth and/or puts too much stress on plastic guide so that it is destroyed. Either way, you will get pistons colliding with valves, a.k.a. catastrophic engine failure. Many, if not most, folks with a TC failure reports "low oil pressure warning, followed by drivetrain malfunction" in short order. That sequence would make sense to the above scenario. I am a firm believer that not using the ASS limits your exposure to this problem. Think about it: Every time the motor starts, there is zero oil pressure and quite a bit of slack in the TC because the TC tensioner isn't "working" just yet. Certanly, I have noticed that my N20 motor takes a bit more crank time before it fires, compared to my N55 motor. My speculation is that the N20 needs to build up oil pressure to the TC tensioner before timing is correct to fire the motor.

That and depending on how long you sit there, you're letting oil drip down the chain and guide which provides less lubrication. Great concept, shitty materials lol.

Right? Lol... I think if decide with Porsche, highest I'd go is a Turbo. I'm not trying to literally only work, sleep, eat(sometimes), and then watch the car sit in the garage because I can't drive it lol.

I heard the word Porsche and Im all ears! I want a 718 sooo bad. Not that I dont want a 911 worse but the new 718 is actually somewhat realistically achievable while the 911 is a bit of a stretch. |

The new 718s are looking pretty damn fine and who knows: depending on how they perform, I could go that route. My issue is that I just don't want to be limited again like how I was with this car. So shooting for 911 Turbo/Carrera 4S/Carrera GTS or M3/M4.

I was surprised to see that the 718 has a 2.0L turbo four banger than produces 300hp bone stock. Pretty impressive from a tiny motor. I think the S version is a 2.5L that is rated at 365hp. Apparently both models get to 60 in well under 5 seconds in test drives as well. |

Plenty of guys in the 500-600whp range, which seems pretty good lol.

Yah, that'll do it for me . 500whp + one of the best looking cars of all time (the F80 ), IMO of course, and I'd be pretty happy.

At Eurofest in CT last month someone had a unique color 718, auto, pretty much a few hundred miles on it and only paid 62 for it...

Ah gotcha. 718 is plenty DD-able if you don't need the extra seats.
