You guys should look up videos on youtube on how to apply this stuff. Its so easy to do especially on a new car that doesn't need paint correction done. Even easier if you have a lighter color car.
I bought the opticoat 2.0 for $60 and applied it myself on my F10 after delivery and even coated all of my wheels with it. Water and dirt can't cling to the car at all now. Alan

I have had it on my BSM e90 for over a year. It does what it says it does. It seals the car and pretty much nothing sticks to it (within reason).
This has proven to be a double edged sword in some cases. Waxes, etc... that you would typically put on top of the clear coat to act as a sacrificial barrier against small problems also don't stick very well. You have to be careful because if you do end up getting marring/swirls etc.. they will be in the opticoat layer and you will need to polish them out. OTOH the blemishes will be in the opticoat and not the actual clear coat so thats probably a good thing as you can then polish them without taking down the clear. I also think there are sealants/waxes that "pop" more on black cars, but by no means does opticoat look bad. If you are going to get it, I'd have it done by a professional who can correct your paint as close to perfect as they can before they apply it because once its on there, its on there. They only way to get it off is by polishing it. Last edited by asus389; 04-13-2013 at 03:17 PM.. |

im debating whether to do it myself for get my local detailer to do it.
A quick question, how many tubes/syringe(s) would i need it I wanted to do it myself. reason I ask is because one tube costs $55 and a detailer is willing to do it for $399. Also, this detailer usually doesnt do opti-coat, but ive been going to his often, and hes a good guy, is it safe to let him do it? or should I go somewhere with opticoat experience? cheers |

And, id like to recommend opticoat experienced detailer, but if your car is pretty new, i think you can do it by yourself as long as you fully understand the whole prep and application procedure. There are many youtube videos and forums to learn how to opticoat if you Google it. |

i bought my car used/demo (6000km), and it already has some paint defects.. The detailer is recommending cut&polish and clay bar before doing opticoat. out of curiosity, does anyone know a good detailer in the Gold Coast/ Brisbane area (Aus) other than Fab's Car Polish that does opticoats? cheers |
