Packages should be more reasonable. I know in Canada a 2012 BMW receives packages for $2000 as opposed to previous $2500. Although these aren't the F30'd and still the E90's.

I would love to know the base price in Canada.
Probably much higher, considering the winter package + the "exchange rate" from the 1990's (we are almost in parity per $ now) |

Gonna take a guess and say the sportline starts a $40,350 +leather and upgraded radio, looking like $42,000

The auto trans is now included in the price, and a funny comment on the manual transmission (no extra charge)
Manual transmissions have always been in the base model with extra $ for auto. I wish going with a manual would mean a decrease in price. |

I guess it depends on whether the lines automatically add leather in the US. We know we don't get the cloth options like the rest of the world does. Whether they'll instead give each line a basic leatherette option here remains to be seen.

Attached is a pdf file with all fine print for ordering options. Leather is not included in Sport Line. Look at KCL3 - "Black Leatherette/Red Highlight" as standard in the ZSL sport package.

Would really be nice if premium package was included with model lines, but most likely not.

If I read correctly somewhere, i think the sport model is leatherette as standard. I'm assuming that leather will be an option across the board. I really wish that the M Sport alcatara numbers would be a stand alone option but doubt it. Very anxious to see complete option and package pricing now. The base price is pretty good I think considering the content increase and that all US models look like they're coming mit slushbox standard. Normally, I'm a die-hard 3 pedal kind of guy but having driven the ZF 8 speed in an Audi A6, it is a very sweet transmission. Might be the one that converts me....

My fault - I completely forgot that the "line" details were already known for the US (and nicely linked in the OP, even).
So, only the Sport line gets the option for leatherette. At first glance, one might think it will be quite a bit cheaper than the other two. But since it includes the sport seats and sport suspension (and the Sport Plus DDC mode - but that shouldn't really add cost), it might be close to a wash. Still, I think the packages will be no more than $3500. |

At least in the US, this changed in the early part of 2011. My E90, which I purchases this summer, also had 6MT as a no-cost option, effectively raising the price by $1K for me.

Very few people will buy a base car so the increased standard equipment for a marginal increase in price will be quickly wiped out once you put a few options on the car. I am very sure when it is all said and done a F30 equipped the same as an E90 will be much more in price. The bean counters at BMW are smart people.

That being said, a tuned 328i m-sport is going to be a sweet option.
