Flashed v6.4 yesterday after a fresh oil change and changing plugs, NGK 97506 gapped at 0.028". Got to grab a log this morning on my way into work.
http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5d077e0dae729b541fbd391c Some observations. 1. New boost target on Stage 2 93 octane looks to be 15.8PSI 2. I had a knock event at 3561 RPM 3. Ignition timing on cylinders 1 and 4 was not nearly as advanced at cylinders 2,3,5 & 6 4. There was a throttle closure at 5273 RPM Regarding 2 & 3, I think this may be fuel related. I've been getting gas at a 76 gas station near me because it's convenient. I'm at half a tank now so contemplating filling up with some Sheetz 93 octane and adding some E85 to the mix (only Sheetz has e85 around here). Past experience with my car shows I can run an e25 mix and the Stage 2 e30 map pretty well without crashing the HPFP. The other part of me what's to just finish this tank and fill up with some straight Shell 93 octane and log before moving up to E mixes. Regarding 4, I believe this was traction control kicking in. There was a slight hump in the road and at 80 mph under full throttle making it easy to lose some traction and it felt like it. I didn't see my DTC light come on but I wasn't looking at my dash. Once I figure out my next step I'll log again and post. One a weird side note, I went on a test drive after the spark plug change yesterday and was able to grab a couple of logs. These look extremely clean BUT, when I got back home and went to tidy up the engine bay (reinstall the sound barrier foam, engine cover and strut brace), I noticed that I had forgotten to plug my O2 sensors back in…SMH! Anyway, interesting logs of this engine running open loop instead of closed loop. Timing looks stellar across the board. http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5d068eecae729b541fbd3763

Log looks good. Boost is a little under target but not too bad. Honestly, I feel like my car ran smoother on idle with the stock plugs but the NGKs were free through FCP. At higher RPMs it's very smooth though. I may run them for a while before switching back to stock plugs. My fuel reserve light just came on today so I will be filling up from a reputable fueling station and then log again to see if the phantom knock goes away.

So some observations on v6.4
1. burbles seem to be much more aggressive in 6.4. In 6.3 I have the following settings... v6.3 Duration Sport: 1.5 Duration Sport+: 2.5 Agression Sport: 2 Aggression Sport+: 5 Min Speed: 0 Max Speed: 100 Min PRM: 1250 Max RPM: 5600 v6.4 Duration Sport: 1.5 Duration Sport+: 2.5 Agression Sport: 1 Aggression Sport+: 2 Min Speed: 0 Max Speed: 100 Min PRM: 1250 Max RPM: 5600 So even with aggression settings being lower in v6.4, the burbles are much more prominent 2. Hesitation and jerkiness under light load has returned. This was fixed in v6.2 but seems to be back now. 3. Boost targets in v6.3 and v6.4 with the Stage 2 93 octane tune both target 15.8psi peak boost. I thought v6.4 revised the boost targets and maybe so under lighter load, but at full load the peak boost target seems to be the same. I've switched back to v6.3 simply because it's much more smooth on my car. I'd be curious to know others experiences. For comparison v6.4 log (just fyi: i hit a bump in the road during the log which caused DTC to kick in thus the throttle closure) http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5d077e0dae729b541fbd391c v6.3 log http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5d0cca0eae729b66bd2152d0

I tried a couple logs the other night but unfortunately haven't had the opportunity to got WOT all the way (Vancouver traffic + busy). In DSC off, sport, and sport+ I've had my turbo stutter at around 2800-3000rpm, and then it shakes it off and pulls normally to redline. Logs don't show this particular problem but I it does show a knock event which is worrisome. On advice from others I switched to Shell 91 (no ethanol) because Canadian Chevron 94 is apparently low quality.
Also noticed that burbles seem quite a bit louder right up until oil temp is fully warmed up, then it goes back to normal http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5d0562c6ae729b541fbd34a2 http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5d03b184c090c63e46c9bf4a http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5d03b131c090c63e46c9bf48 I'm not very good at reading these but I think everything looks ok? What I like least is the turbo stutter but I don't think any of these logs captured it. Will try again |

I had a knock event on v6.4 as well but not sure it's tune related. The v6.3 log is running Shell V-Power 93 octane whereas the v6.4 log I was running 76 Premium 93 octane fuel. I think the 76 fuel is just garbage.

Car seems jerky and the burbles are completely all over the place. First 10 or so minutes sometimes they are eardrum piercingly loud on 10% throttle and silent on 50% throttle, other times it's opposite. Zero consistency At 6.3 throttle and burbles are consistent and escalate with throttle position as one would expect. And the warmup phase in sport mode isn't 10x louder for no apparent reason |

I believe it, that's why I said north of 350 whp as a ballpark.. octane/environment/conditions vary and pure is on the 3rd revision of these stage 2 turbos for N55 which also adds variation.

If you already had 6.3 and recently downloaded 6.4, they should both be saved in My Maps. I'm not sure how to get an older version if you don't have the old map still in your My Maps directory though.. The OTS Maps directory only seems to have the most recent rev

Car seems smooth, it was only half-way warmed up so I didnt rev/apply throttle too hard. But progression of power was nice, shifting was smooth too (with light throttle atleast). So I'm not experiencing the jerkiness that you guys are BUT The burbles are definitely fucked. I have the setting on "OEM" And it feels like an audi/merc where the burbs are 1 second duration and kind of predictable. Actually I think the pattern of the burbles was the same as before... but the duration is consistent. I re-flashed the car with the burble setting set to "ORIGINAL" so we'll see what that does tomorrow morning when I go to work. I shall update the thread with my findings! My car: n55, ewg, 8 spd, vrsf CP, vrsf catless DP.

I have run 6.3 Stage 2 93 for about 3 months now. Just upgraded to 6.4 last weekend. I agree, the burbles are not consistent. I do have to say, I do like the "Gun-Shot" backfires when i am in the mood for it in Sport! Comfort now even has an added grumble as well.

Just an update to my previous post,
After changing the burble setting on 6.4 to ORIGINAL, that made the burble duration return to OEM how it was in 6.2 I prefer just to leave it how it was instead of the new 6.4 "OEM" which has an exact consistent 1 second duration like an audi/merc. So there you go, if you want ORIGINAL.... change the setting to original.

Wanted to add to the "inconsistent burbles" reports.
I've noticed the burbles seem... adaptive if you will? When I am cruising around in sport mode, they're usually pretty tame, and I have aggression set to 2.4. Once I start gunning it and downshifting aggressively, it changes to near gunshot levels. Which is nice sometimes, but I'd rather it follow my aggression setting more closely. |

The dyno run was from Dec of 2017 on shitty California 91 octane. I'm not sure which map revision that was on.
