Using a can of freeze-it spray would be more practical, but I don't think cold would be all that effective. It would make the adhesive brittle, but that wouldn't necessarily loosen its grip.

Even a hair dryer can generate enough heat to loosen some adhesives and make them softer.
When debadging my F32, removing dealership badges, and on at least one occasion removing some vinyl pin stripes, I found a hair dryer set to high was effective in softening the tape/adhesive. Much safer than a heat gun too!

Painter's heat guns should only be used by painters. I have one of these that I use for most jobs that need more heat than a hair dryer but not blast furnace heat, like heat shrink tubing and vinyl wrapping:

You would certainly need a larger freezer than many folks have at home. Not sure that would be so appetizing near your Turkey (haha).
